Gambit's road to production has been...troubled, to say the least. With the constant delays, replacements and troubling rumours, some fans think that Gambit being released is very unlikely at this point. But producer Simon Kinberg doesn't think that way. Talking with Slashfilm, he openly talked about the film's delays and such, citing 'finding the right tone' as the reason why.

"I think the truth is when you have these movies that need a very special and unique tone, it takes a little while to find that tone,” Kinberg told Slashfilm. “Deadpool feels like it exploded out of nowhere, but it was a 10-year development process on that movie. I think it was honed over those 10 years".

I hope that Gambit doesn’t take 10 years, but it takes a little honing to get that tone and that voice exactly right,” Kinberg added “The character has such a specific voice in the comic in the same way that Deadpool has a specific voice in the comic, that we want to make sure that we capture that voice on the page. Really it’s just about getting a screenplay that is worthy of that character, and I think we’re really close right now.

Well, it is to be seen whether Gambit finally gets into production and reaches cinemas, but there's a very 50/50 feel to it. Maybe the film will get released, but maybe it just won't. Kinberg sounds confident, though. As always, be sure to leave your thoughts below. Plus, for those who want to know a little more about the Kajun thief, then here's a video by WatchMojo detailing his origin.
.
Gambit is currently set for release in December 31, 2017.

We need to find the voice of Gambit because voice is everything. Voice is love and life, voice is what makes the world go 'round, voice is how I became rich making X-Men: The Last Stand and Fan4stic. Voice.

i want to go back to a time before most comicbook characters were ruined.

i think the reason deadpool worked waqs because the studio didn't care. now that they care, i have a strong feeling that deadpool 2 will be a messy choppy overstuffed film similar to the other cbms that came out this year.

Have they done a random polling at movie theaters or comic cons to see if anyone still wants this movie?

There really shouldn't be a Gambit movie as long as there isn't some kind of cohesive, thought-out X-Men movie universe to put him in. In the environment they have now I just don't see a Gambit solo movie do much anyone any good.

Why is Gambit even getting his own movie?

That's like giving Jubilee her own movie with an origin story and everything.

Do you mind giving Gambit time to shine as part of the X-Men, before giving us a pseudo spin-off that nobody is asking for?

Sorry, but I just haven't noticed any popular demand for Gambit, yet Fox acts as if he was the breakout character of a well-received team-movie or something.

I hate every word out of Kinberg's mouth.

You can't trust him.

Deadpool did not need 10 years to develop. Fox needed 10 years to get their heads out of their asses.

Or Simon Kindberg hands over the reigns to Tim Miller and we actually get something we want to see
