Kevin Feige Is Waiting On The Phone Call That Will Let Him Bring The X-MEN Into The MCU

Despite some potential complications due to Comcast, Disney is set to earn the rights to Fox's Marvel properties, and Kevin Feige is eager to get his hands on their collection of beloved Marvel characters.

Unless Comcast happens to offer a more appealing deal, it’s likely the merger between Fox and Disney will be completed, and Fox’s Marvel properties will fall under the Marvel Studios umbrella.

Yet, even if Fox doesn’t take Comcast up on its offer, fans will have to wait paitiently, as the regulatory process for the deal with Disney means we won’t be seeing Marvel Studios produce any X-Men or Fantastic Four films any time soon. However, it seems fans hoping to see the Fox properties join the Marvel Cinematic Universe aren't the only ones waiting for the deal to go through.

At the recent Produced by Conference, the president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige discussed the future of the MCU, and revealed he is also waiting for the final word on the multi-billion dollar deal.

“I’m just sitting, waiting for a phone call to say yay or nay,” Kevin Feige explained, before saying, “But obviously it would be nice to have access to that entire library.”

In all, this isn’t a surprising response from the producer that routinely expresses his love for Marvel comics—and who once worked on a few of Fox’s Marvel films. But is his readiness a sign that he already has plans for the characters? Probably not, but we can be sure the producer will develop some ideas for in the future.

I’m not sure if this is breaking news...I think this goes without saying. I am however surprised at how many people don’t want this to go through especially on this site. I wanna see Doom done right!

@Dersgnar - I get there are the staunch anti-Disney AND/OR anti-MCU folks; to each his/her own. What I don't understand is why people feel so strongly against Marvel reacquiring THEIR OWN properties; it's like, "How dare they try to regain control of the very characters they created and innovated" -- ya' know, like everybody else.

I dunno.

@Dersgnar - Especially considering how botched the Fantastic Four movies have been, and the schizophrenic quality of the X Men films, and its continuity.

@Dersgnar - I could wait a bit for X-Men but the Fantastic Four property needs a much sooner revival. A swift injection to the cosmic MCU. If not for the team itself, then for all the characters the F4 franchise has threaded into the Marvel universe over the years. Can't do Annihilation without Annihilus. Apparently, can't even do Kang because for an absurd reason he is wrapped in the F4 rights instead of the Avengers, whom he is a major recurring villain for. Besides, I'd like to see Peter Parker and Johnny Storm team-up to build a car that can drive up walls.

@Dersgnar - Is just people who don't like the MCU, hate Disney and/or love the FOX movies, don't like the possiblity of Disney having more properties, who believe FOX's is better because of Deadpool and Logan (both movies which i love) or simply loathe Mickey Mouse. Tho there are those who like the MCU but hate Disney and barely like FOX, those who believe evrything's gonna be the same if Disney wins and FOX is needed to keep it varied, who think Disney's eating competition, eventho FOX's the one selling because they want to focus on other more important shit for them jaja....it's very complicated lol but hey we live in a world of differents views, opinions and tastes so it's fair.

Personally, i'd be fine if the deals happens or not, i really hope that,if Comcast wins, Disney manages a deal to get the F4 and the X-Men (if it's true that the rights aren't transfarable), because God knows they need to be under that same roof that Feige's has so carefully built with everyone else at Marvel Studios, specially the F4.

@EskimoJ - there are actually individuals on here who would rather the property STAY fox?! Some people are impossible to please. It has to suck a giraffe tallywacker living life necer having satisfaction. If they aren't clinging to Wilding's scrotum they are sobbing like a 15 year old girl. I must be crazy for liking both Marvel AND DC and their respected properties. I

@Dersgnar - It's not really a "I don't want Marvel to have X-Men and FF" thing. It's more of a "I don't want Disney to have a giant additional studio when they're already massively overpowered in the theater game". I mean, with this deal, you'd have an easier time listing the franchises Disney DOESN'T own.

I'm 6 posts in, and it is folks talking about 'these people' against the Disney-Fox deal celebrating Comcast disrupting the deal. I read more than I post here, and the majority seem to be MCU-heavy on their opinions. So where are these commenters that bash on the MCU and ridiculing the MCU regularly?

Even when Fox or Sony news comes out, it seems to be comments about 'wish these were back at Marvel' quite often. Or with WB/DC, it is what a dog something is going to be before it is even released.

Or is that just imagination?

@Dersgnar - I would love to see the Marvel properties return to Marvel, but I would rather not see Disney absorb another studio. No hate for Disney at all, but when companies get too big , consumers often lose out because there is less choice and less incentive for lower prices. That’s a bit of a generalized statement as I am not sure how this would affect ticket prices, but I think you get my drift. There may be less incentive to take risks on creative pictures as well.

It's a mix bag. MCU always makes "hits" because they are formulaic, so their movies are all the same with different genre blends. Fox is always a "hit/miss" but more creative to the extent where they let their directors do "anything" because they don't earn merchandise sales. Disney is primarily aimed at "kids" and "merchandising" so there is a line they won't cross. Logan and Deadpool would never have been made because killing characters and trash-talking other franchises hurt merchandising.

On the business side Disney already has too much assets. They own many movie, news stations, channels, etc. They want Fox for Sky Ent, not for F4/X-men. Sky Ent is the biggest media company in the UK and Rupert Murdoch owns 40% of that company. Disney wants to buy Murdoch's 40% and an additional 20% afterwards to own majority. Governments and people "all over the world are protesting" this buyout because "Disney execs/shareholders" will control the "media/news" and push their own agendas like...hydra

@mastakilla39 - The point of my last comment, which you seem to have totally missed is that the first large merger challenged by the US Justice Department in decades just happens to include a news outlet that Trump sees as one of his enemies. Not saying that it shouldn’t be challenged, but appearances are telling.

@Dersgnar - it’s the idea of future movies like Logan and Deadpool no longer existing.

The mcu is fun and all, but it’s nice to have an alternative. Deadpool 2 and infinity war were so wildly different, I wasn’t bored with superheroes by the time it was all said and done.

Personally, I hate the idea of an mcu Deadpool movie. But, I do think the mcu should be whole.

@mastakilla39 - honestly, I used to have some of these “they won’t upset the kids” arguments, but infinity war kinda ruined them.

That was not a very kid-friendly movie, and it definitely killed characters. Whether or not that’s permanent... children aren’t going to know.

My nephew is too terrified to even watch the damn thing.
