Michael Fassbender Says We Can Expect A Different Sounding Magneto In X-MEN: DOFP

In a revelation which is sure to annoy those already frustrated with the X-Men movies' fractured continuity, Fassbender tells Empire that in this movie he will sound much more like a younger Ian McKellen -- something he wishes he'd done in X-Men: First Class.

Michael Fassbender's increasingly Irish sounding accent in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class has been the subject of a lot of debate. He begins the movie with a fairly neutral, but definitely leaning towards British sounding accent, and by the time the final showdown on the beach is underway he sounds as if he's just stepped out of my local pub! Well it seems that we can expect yet another variation in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past, because Fassbender reveals to Empire that he's "changed his accent" once again to better portray a younger version of Ian McKellen's Magneto, who also appears in the movie.

"I hope it's not too much of a weird switch, but in the first one it was a concern for me..and I actually kind of wish I did this [accent] the first time. Because at the beginning I was studying McKellen and doing that cadence...But Matthew kind of liked my accent and my rhythms...But on this one I listened to McKellen constantly. I had him on my iPhone all the time."

Fassbender again says that he regrets not going that route initially, and that he hopes it won't be "too sharp a leap" from what he'd done before in First Class. Guess we'll find out next year! Do you guys think this was a good idea since both actors will be appearing in the movie..or should he have stuck with the Irish brogue for continuity's sake?
