THE LITTLE MERMAID Star Halle Bailey Responds To X-MEN Casting "Rumor"

Though it was never a rumor, as such, The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey has responded to the internet scuttlebutt that she'd been cast in the upcoming X-Men reboot as Kitty Pryde.

Thanks to legions of so-called "scoopers," the internet is a minefield of misinformation at the moment. While some insiders do have access to accurate info on upcoming projects, a lot of people - and websites - either don't know (or don't care about) the difference, and even the most blatant bull*shit can often spread under the guise of a rumor.

Such was the case a few days ago when a random Twitter user claimed that The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey has been cast as Kitty Pryde in the planned MCU X-Men reboot, linking Variety as the source even though the trade's report mentions nothing of the sort.

Even so, the "rumor" gained some traction after the usual suspects ran with it, prompting Bailey to respond.

Is Bailey just trying to throw us off the scent?? Eh, no. While we're sure she'd do a fine job as the fan-favorite mutant hero, the fact that any supposed X-Men casting news is picked up when the project hasn't even been announced is baffling.

A rumor recently did the rounds which claimed that contractual issues are preventing Marvel Studios from introducing new actors as established mutant characters such as Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, etc to The MCU, and they may not be able to move forward with a reboot until 2025. If accurate, we shouldn't expect to hear any official word on cast, director, etc for quite some time.

Fans are hoping for an announcement at Disney's D23 next month, so, depending on what we learn during the expo, we should have a better idea of where things stand with The X-Men in The MCU fairly soon.

@Repian - She could EASILY pass for a Palestinian or a Jewish person of color who has Black ancestry, as MANY Afro-Asiatic people DO have. Aside from straight up African Jews, like Jewish Ethiopians, Jewish Igbo Nigerians or Black South African Jews(Lemba people).

Kitty Pride shouldnt be in the first movie anyways. Get the original 5 right first.

@Ryguy88 - I think we'll continue to see mutants pop up throughout the MCU before we get a proper X-Men film.

@Ryguy88 - I really don't see a reboot happening, or the need for one.

@Ryguy88 - That would be nice but I think they will want to get Wolverine in the movies as soon as possible.

@thewanderer - think it’ll be a light reboot to bring in the characters that couldn’t make it for the big mcu aka new iron man , cap etc

@ShimmyShimmyYA - I don’t see the need. They have thousands of characters playing with. They can make stars out of any of them.

@MitcHendricks - wait, two days ago I read through someone’s dissertation on here about how Hollywood is just a bunch of Jewish, pedophile, baby eaters they will stop at nothing to protect and elevate their own and their brand but now you’re telling me that they woukd be quick.to pull the trigger on a race swap. I am so confused. Who am I to believe?

My goodness, the quality of reporting on this website drops exponentially with each passing month.

You guys know this isn't newsworthy. It's not even an insider scoop or a rumour. It's a fan trolling on Twitter.

You know that.

Yet you decide to write a nothing-article about it so you could get people here to bemoan about "race-swapping" like its some kind of epidemic. All of a troll's viral tweet.

Are the clicks and engagement really worth it?

At this point it's obvious this website is not pressed to solve its major problems. The speed of reporting actual news is slow. The reporting itself is half-assed and lacks professionalism . The website's functionality has gotten increasingly worse over time. And It has become a breeding ground and jump-off point for bigoted users in the comment section.

The only saving grace from my view are the one or two people who actually write worthwhile content for you and the handful of users that can contribute to reasonable conversation.

I mean, maybe I should stop complaining because this isn't the first time I've asked and hoped that ComicBookMovie.com could do better.

@Kumkani - It's nigh unbearable here anymore. This site has become the New York Post of comic related media, and the comment sections read like an alt-right facebook group.
