Marvel Studios has slowly started bringing mutants into the MCU, with Ms. Marvel and Namor the Submariner the first confirmed characters with the X-gene. While the Scarlet Witch has embraced her magical abilities in recent years, many fans remain convinced that her latent mutant abilities were somehow activated by the Mind Stone.
That would make sense, particularly if the plan is to eventually adapt House of M and that infamous "No More Mutants" moment from the comic books.
Variety recently caught up with Elizabeth Olsen and broke the news to her that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine will appear in Deadpool 3. Clearly excited by this development, the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star would go on to share her interest in the Scarlet Witch sharing the screen with the X-Men.
"I don’t know. I think if whenever we bring in X-Men - I guess Wolverine is X-Men, right? I mean, it would be cool to work with a lot of those people from the X-Men franchise," Olsen says in the video below. "I think [Michael] Fassbender’s [Magneto is] my dad in some world? That would be [cool]."
It would be hard for Magneto to be retconned into the MCU as Wanda Maximoff's father, but certainly isn't impossible. Having him manipulate her powers to further his cause could be a very interesting direction to take the next Saga in, particularly if it means spending more time with Olsen's Scarlet Witch.
Despite her apparent demise in the Doctor Strange sequel, Marvel Studios has barely scratched the surface of Wanda's potential. Another likely storyline they could borrow heavily from down the line is Avengers: The Children's Crusader.
