With the X-Men set to be rebooted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all eyes are on who Marvel Studios chooses as the new Wolverine. There are lots of characters to be excited about, of course, but James "Logan" Howlett remains the most popular mutant and the potential for solo and team-up adventures in the MCU moving forward is undeniably massive.
A few different names have been suggested as Hugh Jackman's successor (Taron Egerton remains a fan-favourite pick), and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe just so happens to be among them. He's an unlikely choice on the surface, but one whose name we keep seeing pop up online.
Talking to Phase Zero at the SXSW premiere for The Lost City, Radcliffe finally addressed the rumours head-on. "So many people come up to me like, 'Hey man, I heard the Wolverine news, that's really cool.' And I'm like, 'Mate, it's not, I don't know anything about it.'"
"Like, I appreciate that somebody has clearly gone, 'Wolverine is actually short in the comic books, we should get a short guy to do it.' But I don't see them going from Hugh Jackman to me afterwards, but who knows," Radcliffe admitted. "Prove me wrong, Marvel."
While we're sure there are many comic book characters who would be a good fit for Radcliffe, Wolverine doesn't seem quite right. Either way, Marvel Studios' plans for the character remain a mystery, and we have no idea if Kevin Feige and company have even started eyeing actors to play that clawed hero or any of his fellow mutants. For now, the Fantastic Four reboot seems a bigger priority.
Do you think Radcliffe would make a good Wolverine?
