The
X-Men and
Fantastic Four are on their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there's understandably a lot of excitement about what Marvel Studios might have in store for those characters and who will end up playing them.
One name that keeps popping up, though, is Taron Egerton. The
Kingsman: The Secret Service star is seemingly a fan-favourite choice to play Wolverine and while he's previously made it clear that he hasn't talked to anyone about that role, it's clear the British actor is keen to join the MCU.
Asked during a recent interview how he feels about possibly playing Wolverine in the MCU, Egerton responded:
"I think I love Marvel and I love the movies and I'd love the excuse to get in shape and I'd love to be a part of it. I mean, whether [Wolverine's] realistic or not - I don't know."
There's no denying that Egerton would make a great Wolverine and no real reason to think that it's not a "realistic" possibility. However, there are plenty of other roles the actor would be suitable for in this shared world, so he more than likely doesn't want people to become too fixated on one specific character - especially if that would potentially put Marvel Studios off from casting him as anyone else.

Cyclops
While it's true that we've seen plenty of Cyclops over the past twenty years or so, I think an argument could be made that Fox never quite got the character right. James Marsden and Tye Sheridan were both well cast but neither has been given the opportunity to show what a great leader Scott Summers is and most of their screentime has been devoted to pining after Jean Grey.
From the very start, Bryan Singer made a point of emasculating Cyclops as soon as Wolverine showed up and while I'm sure Marvel Studios is well aware of the importance this character holds to X-Men fans, there's sadly a risk that they'll feel he's been overexposed.
With any luck, though, he'll be given the chance to shine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and these movies will focus on his actual personality, including Scott's slightly darker side which has seen him align himself with Magneto in both the regular and Ultimate Marvel Universes over the years.
