Like The Dark Knight Rises before it, Logan is unique in the respect that it serves as a finale for the hero it stars. In an age of reboots and sequels, that's a rarity, and this movie was made all the more special by the fact that it was a farewell to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine seventeen years after he started playing the character. The question is, will the clawed mutant get any sort of recognition at the 2018 Oscars?
We'll just have to wait and see but the R-Rated release definitely wasn't your typical superhero movie.
That's evident from reading through the screenplay which has now been officially released online by director James Mangold. It's interesting to see how the story was laid out on the page and what changes were made during the transition from that to the big screen. James Gunn recently released the screenplay for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so perhaps this will become a trend moving forward!
It would certainly be interesting to take a look at Chris Terrio's original Justice League screenplay...
