RUMOR: Two Japanese Pop-Stars Joining The Cast Of THE WOLVERINE?

Even though casting is being quite tight-lipped, Japanese pop-stars Jin Akanishi and GACKT are rumored to be joining Hugh Jackman in the upcoming X-Men spin-off, The Wolverine.

Japanese pop-stars (who also happen to be actors) Jin Akanishi and GACKT may be joining the cast of The Wolverine.

The first rumor of GACKT being cast in the movie comes from a nice Twitter exchange. Twitter user xHoney_Bladex mentioned GACKT in a tweet, saying that he was speculated to be in The Wolverine. GACKT responded with a slightly cryptic hint that he will infact be in the movie.

You can listen to a sample of GACKT's music below, with the song Until The Last Day.

Take this part as an incredibly tiny grain of salt. The second rumor comes from a somewhat odd source as this Yahoo Japan post speculates on Jin Akanishi joining the cast. According to this horribly translated post, Jin Akanishi is leaving the TV show "GTO" to start a career in Hollywood which is set to lit-off with The Wolverine. The information about going to Hollywood actually appears to be true as he is set to co-star in the 2013 movie 47 Ronin which stars Keanu Reeves. Akanishi actually has somewhat of a fanbase in the US ,so it is clear as to why he could be cast in The Wolverine.

Jin Akanishi actually performed with Jason Derulo, which you can listen to below.

With The Wolverine getting a good rumored cast of Japanese stars, how are you starting to feel about the movie?

I think it's rather unfair to compare these Japanese entertainers who happen to have received proper acting training to regular western pop stars.
The idea of the asian and Japanese idol is to actually have the whole package. That is why it's actually a big deal.
I don't know about the rumor tho, the source seems a bit sketchy. But I do believe Jin Akanishi will deliver a powerful performance in the 47 RONIN movie, alongside the rest of the great Japanese cast.

Wasnt Gackt in Bunraku? You know that film with small budget and Josh Hartnett, Woody Harrelson, Demi Moore, Ron Perlman and Kevin McKidd in cast.
