The Budget For THE WOLVERINE Revealed?

An interesting bit of info has surfaced regarding the budget for 20th Century Fox's third solo Wolverine film starring Hugh Jackman. The film won't have to gross a ton of money to turn a profit.

All you number crunchers and amateur box office analysts file this number away in your subconscious.  According to an application for James Mangold's Wolverine sequel to film in the state of Louisiana, the budget for the film is  $127 million.  If you apply the typical rationale that at least half that figure will be spent on marketing the advertising budget for the film should be around ~$63.5 million.  Going  a step further and accounting for the split in revenue film studios agree to with theaters, The Wolverine sequel will have a total budget of $190.5 million but will need to earn twice that amount [$381 million] to break even.

Rumors persist that James Mangold will be attempting to adapt the Old Man Logan storyline from Mark Millar's comic book special.  However, recent reports state that that villain of the film will be The Reavers, characters that did not appear in the original comic.  Furthermore, the vast majority of the supporting characters from that particular story are the property of Marvel Studios.  Perhaps Mangold is attempting to put his own take on that particular chapter of Wolverine lore?  With filming underway in New Orleans, a clearer picture of the film's plot should begin to emerge as more and more set photos make their way online.
