In the UK film magazine, TOTAL FILM (MAY 2009, ISSUE 154) has an interview with Ryan Reynolds. In it he says,

"Deadpool is impervious to injury. He has super-healing ability and adamantium coarsing through his blood stream. And yes, he has blades coming out of his hands too"

In a desperate attempt to survive the cancer that's killing him, Wilson volunteers to have his mind and body genetically mutated using the same DNA as a certain hairy former Weapon X experiment.

The magazine also goes on to say, 'Thanks to his genetic process, Deadpool becomes horribly scarred' and that, 'The same cancerous side effects cause Deadpool's brain to constantly re-write itself, making him mentally unstable'

Reynolds says Deadpool has one mission, "To hunt down Wolverine. He's on autopilot: search and destroy. At the beginning, they have a contentious relationship, but that evolves into something much darker by the end of the film"

After spending more time talking about working with Hugh Jackman and martial arts training he finally says, "I think if they do find a way to create a Deadpool that's true to the origins of the ccomic book then I'd love that. This story is more the humble beginnings of Deadpool. But if he were to evolve into the character from the comic books that I know and love, then I'd do anything to play that guy"

So, what does this mean for the present and future of Deadpool..?

Ryan Reynolds was a perfect casting choice for the role of Deadpool. His wittiness is dead on to what the character is like but unfortunately we don't see much of him in the Wolverine Origins movie, hopefully with the re-shoot footage it'll create more of a build up for some sort of future for one of the most badass and hilarious characters in the comic book world.

well he did state earlier that he plays Wade Wilson before Deadpool, he said he never really plays "Deadpool" from the comics, it is cool to see that he knows the character well enough to understand this movie doesn't REALLY have DP in it

he did a great job, besides from blocking a million bullets with two swords and making all of the bullets hit different people. i would love a solo deadpool movie with him as a merc, jumping from job to job, i would love to see the re shoots, but as long as they keep the shit after the credits, cause after the backlash from this, good movie but not true to the books, the next one i'm gonna love, if they even do it. but it sounds like ryan is a little pissed off at the movie.

Look I know everyone is sooooo incredibly upset that this movie does not seem to be true to the comic books, but really can we all stop BITCHING about it? We know most of you wish wolverine was in his tight yellow and blue spandex and deadpool in his black and red but really, would you take this movie seriously if they did that? The movie needs to be revamped so it can appeal to all demographics. This movie looks so action packed and bad ass! I'm dying to see it! It looks like it will be 10X better than the first 3 X-Men movies combined, and I'm a huge X-Men fan and I actually liked the X-Men movies. Why can't we just put the unwarranted hate for Fox aside and support the people who actually bring comics to the big screen! I for one will be seeing this a couple times!

SirPrize- Well i wouldn't be so sure of that. Let's hope not :)

joshw24 - Sorry, the date threw me off. I forgot it was May in the UK, here in Canada we're still in April. Stupid daylight savings time!!!

BmanHall- You and me both pal!

BlackOnyx1- I think it'll be better than all the X-men movies, regardless of the liberties taken :)

Question:
If Fox had any intention of doing a possible spin-off Deadpool movie, why would they make such drastic changes to the character?

Answer:
I think that the recent leak of the film online was a ploy by the studio! (follow me for a moment...)

1. You release a nearly perfect DVD grade copy of the film online, knowing perfectly well that the (great) majority of the people who would know to look for, and want to see this picture before it was released in theaters would be the BIGGEST fans of the franchise (the most voiced oposition)...

2. You release the INCOMPLETE version of the movie (before the final "inconspicuous" reshoots of the film involving Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman), and then when the masses go out to see the film in theaters, they get a little "surprise" at the end of the film that serves to appease the true fans, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, it makes the people who've seen the film online, or that were upset about the portrayal of Deadpool that they've read about online, GO TO THE THEATERS TO WATCH IT AGAIN!

*I know it borders on conspiracy theory, but damn if it doesn't sound plausible, and profitable for the studio!
(What do you guys think?)

ya to add to adamant877: if they were planning a deadpool spinoff, y would they cut off his head at the end of the movie!!!!! i no some of u r gunna say that doesnt happen(for people who didnt see the leak) but it does and im not sure how they could do a spinoff after wade becomes a mindless drone controlled by a [frick]ing computer!

this was not reynolds at his best. he was good , he always is, but i blame the studio and producers and directors for not allowing him to embrace the character. everyone's performance was bridled.

Dude's im new to all this but just had to post to say that Ryan Reynolds LOVES the Deadpool character so why on earth would he want him ruined?

i believe 877 look at the cloverfield film...its what they do now because it gets them much more interest and when the film comes out people go holy s*** didnt see that one coming. in the total film mag Reynolds states how much he loves the character and talks of Deadpool and Wolvie fighting at the end..if you see him different in a trailer surely he would have said that cos its not some secret is??!! Plus i could expect marvel and fox to use april fools humour especially fox..look at some of their programs(simpsons, familyguy....)

All i can say is Reynold's character in Blade3 was more Deadpool than the one we'll see here in this movie.
