X-MEN: DOFP Director's Cut Confirmed For Later This Year

Were you disappointed that Anna Paquin's Rogue scenes were cut from X-Men: Days Of Future Past? Well, producer Lauren Shuler Donner has revealed that they'll be restored for a director's cut on Blu-ray at some point this year. More past the jump..

We know from the various trailers and tv spots etc that several scenes from Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past must have been left of the cutting room floor. The most notable omissions seem to be a couple of scenes featuring Anna Paquin's Rogue, but now producer Lauren Shuler Donner has confirmed that we'll get to see them when a director's cut of the movie hits shelves later in the year.

The scenes in question were an entire action set piece in which Iceman, Magneto and Professor X rescue Rogue from the sentinels, and then another sequence which saw her using her powers to help keep Wolverine's mind in his younger body after he inadvertently injures Kitty. But we've also glimpsed several other scenes -- including Mystique interacting with Beast and Wolverine -- that must not have made the theatrical cut, so hopefully they'll also appear on the Blu-ray. No release date was given, but we'll assume it'll be around the November/December mark.

I read that sequence, it was pointless but I'd have loved to see it. That's the scene Ice Man sacrifices himself so that Eric and Rogue can escape. Really interested to see it.

Excellent news.

I just hope that they dont screw us and make the director's cut only available to those who buy the combo pack with the 3-D bluray in it.

Im still really pissed they did that with The Wolverine.

@Pasto

Kinberg's script wasn't that good. He turned Apocalypse into an alien remember?

@Ror

Yes it was posted already but deleted because the original article was poorly written (and it was). I'm assume that's the reason it was deleted anyways.

@ManCalledSting

I have the whole script and yes it's real. I just posted the page from the script where Erik merges with Apocalypse.

As much as I'm not a fan of the characterization of Rogue in the XFilms, it'll be nice to see the scenes. Singer said the escape scene was incredible visually.

There's the intimate scene involving Beast and Mystique
Wolverine talking to Peter's little sister
Wolverine telling Mystique she's a "cold hearted b*tch*? lol

Maybe it'll explain where Kitty got her time traveling powers.

Or maybe why Xavier and Magneto desperately needed Logan's help in the aftercredit scene to The Wolverine when they didn't even know that he was the only one to go back in time.

Or I wonder if it will explain why Xavier came back to life crippled.

Or it might explain where Mystique learned how to keep Xavier out of her head when Emma, a trained physique, could not. It's like Xavier and Magneto both are extremely powerful until the plot doesn't need them to be.

I swear whoever writes these scripts just changes things to make sense with the plot.

If I don't see this version of Juggernaut in the Director's Cut, I'm gonna be pissed!

Mystiques cells can be used to create unstoppable sentinels. That might have been an interesting plot point if any of the other movies set that up. It's like none of X-Men movies build off each other. They just come up with all original plot points. The only exception was when X3 continued the Phoenix plot teased in X2. But that was only a subplot to the mutant cure controversy.

It's easy to forget how bad FOX has done with Rogue. They turned her into a whiney passive character. She was such a BA in the comics. And she doesn't do anything in the movies. Same goes for Cyclops. Fox was so determined to make Jackman the focus of every film that Cyclops has never gotten his time to shine.

I mean common sense tells us that Scott's relationship with Jean would be one the main focuses of X3 right? No. He gets killed off in 10 mins.

I enjoyed DOFP it was just annoying how many plot points only made sense because the screenwriters said so.

@Alfredo. I can see how you might think that. If you prefer plot points pulled out of Bryan Singer's ass rather than plot points adapted from earlier films and source material.

@McNyagano: I already own this x-tended director's cut bluray of X-Men Days of Future Past. Laura Shuller Donner sent me a special copy and I watched it and I loved it. It really makes the movie more emotional and stuff and I recommend you guys pick it up when it gets "officially" released at the end of the year.

You're having a laugh. FOX still has to make a film as good as the Avengers.
