A cryptic tweet from Mark Millar has revealed that the character WILL appear in the Matthew Vaughn directed movie, and he'll be played by a former Hannah Montana star...

Fans have been dismayed by the apparent absence of original X-Men like Cyclops and Jean Grey in X-Men:first Class, but a tweet from comic book writer Mark Millar (who of course worked with Matthew Vaughn on the movie adaptation of Kick-Ass) has revealed that we might just see him after all!



"Text from Vaughn about X-Men set visit. Family excited not because it's X-Men but coz wee guy from Hannah Montanna is Cyclops! Dare I say?"


I'm not sure what to think about this one. Could this just be Millar pulling our leg, or has he genuinely let slip a fairly big piece of news? With Scott's younger brother Alex, aka Havok, in the movie it's not hard to believe Fox will play with continuity to give the character a small role.

The other question is of course, who is this Hannah Montana actor? After checking out IMDb, there are literally dozens to choose from, any of whom could easily pull off the look of a young Scott Summers. What do you think? Any ideas as to who it might be? How are they gonna work this (if true)? If the film takes place in the 60's, and they already established Cyke was a young teen in W:O (80's) and about 30 in X-Men...WTF, Fox?

if this is true,the the things this movie has going for it are professor x,magneto,the beast,cyclops,jean grey & its set during the 60s.

but everything else about this movie is shit mainly adding additional characters that have nothing to do with the story.

its great seeing emma frost & havok on the big screen but not in x-men first class.

so f*ck fox i'm not paying to watch this shit,i get it on pirate dvd.

I am typically the guy who will see the movie no matter what and usually like it but even I am hesitent about this movie. Seems like it is just a bullshit attempt at holding on to the rights to X-Men. Feels like they are just tossing things together to create something passable that kids will want to see but piss off the real fans.

superdog@ i think we can safely say they don't care about continuity. The problem is even regular everyday fans, not the hardcore comic fans, are going to have problems with this movie in respect to the other three, well 4 if you count origins. I don't understand why fox doesn't get that.

@Josh: The guy from Hannah Montanna movie is Lucas Till. He is playing Havok not Cyclops. Someone already responded to Millar's tweet saying that he got it wrong.

C'mon guys, this movie is a prequel, taking place in the same continuity as the previous movies and X-Men Origins: Wolverine in which Cyclops was still just a kid.

Why would Cyclops be part of this incarnation of the original cast? He wouldn't! The only chance of that happening would be if this were a reboot. It's not so Cyclops and no Jean Grey as part of this class.

LEE@ As much as i love the idea of Marvel getting their licenses back, its never going to happen. They have made that clear. if all else fails they will release a crappy straight to DVD movie that they show in a couple theaters and then they are covered. it has nothing to do with revinue.

Spectre1983-They did officially state that it would be a prequel in the same vain as JJ Abrams' Star Trek film which pretty much rebooted the series while using the same continuity. So there's no telling what Fox has truly in mind.

@LEE777 joe publics will never get tired of x-men, most my friends who dont read comics absolutely LOVED the wolverine movie, so dont expect marvel to get the movie rights back any time soon but I HOPE they do

@Shaman true point dude just realised that now, i do remember reading an article somewhere stating that fox were using decoy names, i am intrigued by this movie, but not exactly excited
