Nobody saw this coming! Furious 7 is now the third highest grossing movie of all time. It currently has a total worldwide box office gross of $1,520.0, surpassing Marvel's The Avengers total worldwide box office gross of $1,518.6. Domestically, the overrated action thriller about cars has yet to surpass what is considered to be one of the greatest comic book movies of all time. The domestic box office total for Furious 7 stands at $351.0, while Marvel's The Avengers has almost double that with $623.4. Apprently the seventh film in the franchise about cars only achieved this accomplishment due to its foreign box office numbers.

Is it all about the money though? Well...despite Furious 7 surpassing Marvel's The Avengers financially worldwide, the latter is still more critically acclaimed than Furious 7. With Jurassic World breaking records everywhere, Universal Pictures has been very successful this year. Jurassic World and Avengers: Age of Ultron are both expected to surpass Furious 7 soon. We already have three billion-dollar films this year; there are expected to be at least two more later this year.

What did YOU think of Furious 7? Was it worthy of accomplishing this? Sound off below in the usual spot!

give it a few weeks. Jurassic World will be the 3rd highest. I don't know if it will get Avatar or Titanic numbers but possibly close.

C-List celebrity death aside, the movie was complete ass. CGI was choppy, dialogue was pitiful and the storyline was gawdy. I'm not hating on it cause it knocked out Avengers, I'm just saying, only the first one was good, and even it was a huge ripoff of Point Break.

Furious 7's hitting into the top 3 is going to be shortest on record as Jurassic World is sure to pass it within the next week or two. Hard to believe that 2015 has 2 movies passing The Avengers movie when no movie the past 4 years cracked into the top 3. The Avengers will undoubtedly drop to 5th place. And this is all before The Force Awakens hits in December. The movie industry is going from one of its worst years in 2014 to one of its best in 2015.

Jurassic world will take its place soon. Then BVS will next year and then civil war and infinity war and so on hahaha

Actually need to correct -The Avengers record was 3 years old -not 4 as I stated in my previous post.

That is really unexpected, but congrats I guess! Never watched a Fast movie on the big screen, but I think I did watch most of them over the years. 5 was probably my favourite.

So to beat Avatar we'd need a movie featuring the Avengers driving races vs the Fast crew while being chased by genetically modified dinosaurs?!

Huh, well good for them.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but apparently a lot of other people have. :P

Still though...this kinda bugs me for a really petty reason...

See, a while ago I accidentally came across this one idiot on Youtube who was bragging about how this movie would make more than The Avengers, and that Marvel sucked, and he just would not shut up about it.

It just annoyed me so much...

Sure, you can have whatever opinion you want, that's fine by me.
Just don't be an A-hole about it.

Avengers: age of Ultron is NOT going to pass Furious 7, that is just fact at this point. Unless it is an absolute phenomenon in Japan, Age of Ultron will end up somewhere in the $1.4 Billion range and won't hit $1.5 Billion.

Jurassic World, on the other hand...will likely end up bigger than Furious 7 globally.

So much salt in this articl. "overrated action movie", the crazy idea that Ultron might surpass it.
