Sheldon Lettich, a long time friend of Jean-Claude, has told fans that Jean-Claude has signed on to star in the upcoming sequel to The Expendables and that he will be playing the films villain. Lettich posted the news on the Van Damme forums where he is known to visit.

"He said he's going to be in "The Expendables 2," playing a villain."


Various reports are also claiming that Bruce Willis will be returning to his role and possibly playing a bigger part in the movie. Rumors are also circulating that Arnold will reprising his role as well.

So what do you guys think of this news? Personally, I'm not crazy over it, I'm not a huge fan of Van Damme's work personally, but there's no arguing that his addition to the cast will certainly make the movie interesting, just thinking about Sly and Jean-Claude colliding gives me goosebumps.

The Expendables 2 is currently set for an August 17th, 2012 release.

Two decades late, but better late than never right? If only, Arny would play a villain as well...And the three of them would duke it out, not that's a movie that would out gross Avatar itself. O_o

Being a child of the 80's this is very cool! Back in the day these guys would get 5 million a movie and budgets wasn't very big back then, so it was almost impossible to get more than 2 of them in a flick. I think Seagal had problems with a producer or some body in the last one and refused to ever work with them on any level, not sure who it was. It's still cool, now if Chuck Norris and Cynthia Rothrock would just play ball.......

Apparently, Van Damme refused to star in the first movie because he didn't want to be the bad guy who was defeated by Jet Li's character. Now it seems he's putting his financial needs in front of his pride. LMAO!

Now they need to get Dwayne Johnson,Chuck Norris,Steven Seagal & Jesse Ventura in it.I heard Steve Austin was coming back for the sequel as the twin brother of his character from the first one,don't know if that's true or not,but with so many good guys on the team they need some bad buy counterparts to fight them.I just wish Brandon Lee was still alive to be in this.If you didn't know,he did some action movies before he did The Crow.He would have been awesome in this too.
