Recently I posted an article about George Miller and his thoughts on "Mad Max 4: Fury Road." At the time he didn't want to release who he has decided to place as the lead actor.

It seems he finally made his decision on the lead actor and actress because it is now confirmed that Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are signed on.

Tom Hardy was recently in "RocknRolla" as well as "Bronson." Theron on the other hand was recently in "Hancock."

Many won't be surprised that Hardy will be taking over the legacy left behind by Mel Gibson because he was rumored for the role previously. It's not clear as to Theron's role in the film but she will play the lead female role...what the role consist of is unknown at the moment. Plot details in fact are being kept under wraps. It's being said the film will take up directly after "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome."

Whispers68: Congratulations on both individuals. I'll be awaiting further detail about the film. I vaguely remember any of the three films...in fact, I can only recall the first so it maybe time to refresh my memory.

Though I still would have preferred to see Eric Bana in this as Max, at least they're making a new one!Tom Hardy is a great actor, I just don't see him as Max, but I'm hopefully gonna be proved wrong!

I haven't seen Hardy in any films that come to mind or television series but I do have "Bronson," just never put the time into watching it.

How's Bronson as an actor up to this point? Is he Mad Max-like? He received a lot of critical praise for his role in "Bronson" so it doesn't come off as if he's a horrible actor but is he a multi-dimensional one able to walk in any shoes?

I'm curious what role they have for Theron as the leading lady

I ended up switching Bronson off, his talking to the audience bits as vaudeville characters were beginning to annoy me, but Hardy was good in it. The other things I've seen him in he tends to mumble a bit. Just can't see him as Max, and this should NOT directly follow Beyond Thunderdome,what are they thinking?!

@fortapache

The site mentioned following thunderdome because they want him to remain fairly on p ar with his age from that film. I really can't recall Beyond Thunderdome, but it seems everyone on articles involving "Mad Max" have collectively agreed it was the worst in the series. They could continue without following that film and still keep him fairly young but perhaps they want to give hints throughout or in the beginning of part four about part three...not sure their intention since the plot is being kept secret

Is "Bronson" worth checking out in a sea of films I could watch at home or put it to the back of the list because it really isn't that critical to view right away?

Colin Farrell was my only choice if Max was going to continue. He has the right look, and the f**k all else attitude needed for the role. I hate reboots, and remakes, but Colin would have been perfect for this. Another case of hollywood miscasting, but at least it's not that prick Worthington. I'll drink twice to that!

whispers= if you've got other stuff to watch I would leave Bronson til later, I thought it was going to be better after reading the reviews.And it did annoy me by cutting to his character on stage doing wee skits to the audience after a while. I know this was meant to get into the mindset of his character but it just got tiresome.Yeah Thunderdome is the worst if the trilogy, that's why I thought they would just have gone the reboot route!

I actually can see Colin as a Mad Max-character. He comes off as someone who would fit in for that realm

@misterunderhill

I don't recall anything about Beyond Thunderome, but that picture you posted above was like an instant flashback because I definitely recall him from the franchise. I just can't recall what his importance was. I really need to revisit the franchise because I literally draw a blank with them
