PREACHER Team Seth Rogen And Evan Goldberg Bringing Robert Kirkman's INVINCIBLE To The Big Screen

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Preacher) will write, direct, and product Invincible, a live-action adaptation of Robert Kirkman's Image Comics series which will be released by Universal Pictures. The comic book creator is also set to produce and fans of the long-running series (it's way past issue #100 at this stage) have been waiting for this news for a long time.

"For nearly a decade I've had to endure the ‘what about Invincible?’ question as fans have watched The Walking Dead grow into the multi-media monstrosity it has become," said Kirkman. "The answer was always that we were waiting for the right team to partner with. That team has arrived! The esteemed misters Goldberg and Rogen have proven themselves to be top-notch directors with a keen collective eye for stunning visuals after slumming it by writing hit after juggernaut hit."

After their work on Preacher and movies like This is the End and The Interview, it's fair to say the right team has definitely been found and it's going to be very interesting seeing what from the comic book series they choose to adapt here. The series is actually set to come to an end in 2018 with issue #145, so this could be a franchise which is here for a very, very long time to come if this movie succeeds.

I've been waiting sooooo much time for this, but Rogen? I don't know...
Normally I like his films, but the ones that I don´t like, I actually hate them. And I don't know what would be his vision on Invincible.

@Asrchele - have you checked out preacher yet? The man has actually done a pretty great job this first season, it kind of serves as a prequel to the first volume of the series but it's still really solid. I hold out and say Rogen will do really good with this!

@MRjordansurf - Actually, no. I've never read Preacher, which I plan to remedy soon. And because of that I haven't checked the show yet. I never knew that was kind of a prequel until now.

@Asrchele - the show is not a prequel. It loosely followers the comics, but all the main element from the books are there. I've read all the comics before seeing the shows year ago. I'd recommend watching the show going in with no knowledge of the books if you haven't read them that way you what know what to expect.

@RickGrimes - The Preacher show is a prequel. They even said it was. *spoilers*

The last scene of the first season is the first scene from the comic.

@TruePunishment - and season 2 is coming up. Hence, not a prequel.

@DENNISsystem - @TruePunishment-

You're both right. The show, as a whole, isn't a prequel. But the first season was.

I was hoping for an animated series. This is the best super-hero comic in the universe
SKetCH
SKetCH - 4/4/2017, 5:49 PM
@MacacoMalandro - An animated version of 'Invincible' has the potential to be more visually comic accurate than 'Watchmen' or 'Single City'.

I fully support this idea.

@BlackBeltJones - I think it could! I loved image comics as a kid, and would love to see some big screen adaptations... I think studios balk because of Spawn

You think studios could pull it off now?

Who do you think could direct it and make it work?

WeAreDenim
WeAreDenim - 4/4/2017, 1:09 PM
I'm not a fan of SS, but maybe David Ayer could execute an R rated Image comic. I think it could work out well.

End of Watch was really good, as was Fury. Maybe there's something there?
GhostDog
GhostDog - 4/4/2017, 1:10 PM
@Derdpool - Spawn...

If I had to choose a director, I'd go with Adam Wingard. He's an up and comer who could really make it his own and he's got an eye for good horror.

If you wanted a big name, I'd go with David Cronenberg...if you could get him

Adam Wingard! Great choice. I really like The Guest. it showed he knows how to have fun and do old-school horror well.

Cronenberg is another excellent pick.

I'd give David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) a shot, too.

@BlackBeltJones - deadly class would make a kick ass movie. The 80's are huge right now and it has shades of John wick and X-men. If they give it the R it could be fantastic.
