Sylvester Stallone Confirms Nic Cage For THE EXPENDABLES 3; Responds To Fans And Critics

The beloved action star has issued a statement confirming that Nicolas Cage will star in The Expendables 3 and that they are indeed hoping to include both Harrison Ford and Wesley Snipes. Stallone also takes a swipe at the critics who weren't too kind towards the latest instalment.

The Expendables franchise definitely seems to be one of those things that you either love or hate, but any action movie fan simply can't deny just how much fun they really are. Bringing together the actors best known for their contributions to the genre, the films have so far offered a tongue in cheek and explosive nod to a genre which dominated multiplexes in the 80s and 90s (only to now arguably be replaced by superhero adaptations). Taking to his official Facebook page, star Sylvester Stallone has issued the following statement about the planned third instalment, confirming that work is moving ahead on the sequel whether some critics like it or not! You can read my 4* review of The Expendables 2 by clicking HERE.

We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke. That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. What will definitely be the last? I can not guarantee. In principle it would be two deliveries, but the affection of the people encouraged us to work on a third. I guess as long as we amused ourselves by offering fun and people, we can continue playing 'The Expendables'. For now we are not as expendable as it should and as some critics want.

Expendables 2 could've easily been rated PG-13, but it doesn't matter because it was shit.

Wesley Snipes? Man, you get Wesley back then I am really sold.

One thing I am liking about this series is it is almost a tribute to these actors and the realm they helped create. Is it well written? No, but the one liners are solid and the action has been insane. Is it Commando insane? Of course not, but it does still have that 80's action feel. It's designed to just be mindless killing fun and in that sense, it does pretty good.

Nic should be the villain though. Let him go completely back to his Face/Off persona and we are in business.

people that thinks that a movie needs to be rated R to be cool, should really think about his hate against the world.
Gore and blood doesn't make a movie automatically awesome. it doesn't in the majority of case.

I enjoyed 2 more than 1. Took itself less seriously and had some cheezy moments like classic action movies do.

Bruce and Arnold's banter in that one scene with the "I'll be back" "No, I'LL be back.." "yippy ky yah" stuff was just too much for me. TOO cheese. But overall I liked both.

I liked it....its not meant to win Oscars...its meant to entertain.....and I thought it did immensely!! Its a homage to old school 80's action movies...its supposed to be a little cheesy with a high body count.

I just don't understand Harrison Ford? Why not go with Kurt Russell or someone....

Oh and those saying Ford is "Too Classy"........"Cowboys and Aliens", "Six Days, Seven Nights".....and the awesome, now classic....."Hollywood Homicide" ........he's done some pretty bad movies in his time too

I like action blow-em-up movies but there's been NOTHING that I've seen or heard about these movies that's made me want to take the time and spend the money to see them in the theaters. When they're on cable/satellite I'll see them then. Probably.

Maybe.

considering the reason these films were made, they are pretty much critic proof. whatever you like or don't like about these movies, everyone has to see it and decide. you get it or you don't. you enjoy for this or don't for that. but you can't fault the movies for what they do, how could you. anyone who looked into the first movie's production said the same thing. i will love this or hate it.

Action Jackson aka Carl Weathers needs to be in Expendables 3. He's the remaining action star of the 80's that has not been in the previous movies.

If you are going to do CArl Weathers then why not Louis Gossett Jr. if he's still alive.

Nic Cage? I love his 90's movies. I lend by viewing time to his work but more often lately Cage has been a breaker of films. (Sorry, reading Fear Itself right now.) I can see this franchise going south dependent on the type of character Cage is expected to play.
