In recent years, former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury has taken something of a back seat in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sitting out huge event movies like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame. Of course, we got to explore his origin story in Captain Marvel, but Spider-Man: Far From Home would reveal that, in the present day, Fury is hanging out with the Skrulls in outer space.

Secret Invasion promises to shift the spotlight back to Fury (on Earth), and Samuel L. Jackson has offered a few intriguing hints about where his character's story is heading next in the MCU.

"There are things that even I really didn’t know about Nick Fury that I just found out, that the minds behind what happened during the Blip are fantastic. That’s part of what we’re uncovering when we do this series now," he teased. "The place that Nick Fury is in, the evolution of his story, or the devolution of his story, as maybe we wind it down or maybe we crank it up. It’s kind of hard to tell."

"[It's given] me an opportunity to explore something other than the badass-ery of who Nick Fury is," the legendary actor continues in the video below. "I’ve had a good time doing that, and I’m looking forward to people sharing that aspect of who he is when this series does happen."

It's hard to say for sure, but it sounds like the Skrull Invasion of Earth may have begun during the Blip. That would make perfect sense seeing as the alien imposters could replace those who vanished when Thanos snapped his fingers, and the fallout from that event might just be what Fury is trying to deal with when the events of Secret Invasion begin. For now, we'll just have to wait and see.

Secret Invasion is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.

I like the idea that Secret Invasion also reveals the secrets about Nick Fury. Perhaps the origin of the character integrated into the story.

Perhaps we know Nick's story through his mentor.

And it would be great if the character played by Christopher McDonald becomes the new secretary of defense. Secretary of Defense Fury sounds so good...

Somewhat related Marvel news:

Joe Russo said that Feige has a tell when screening a movie. He sits forward. While watching the movie but if he leans back at any time you know that scene is not going to work.

Maybe they should have taught that tell to Chloe Zhao because Feige should have been on a recliner while screening that mess.

I love the idea of Skrulls impersonating those that had been dusted. Makes perfect sense and then when they all came back shit suddenly hit the fan.

@TheManWithoutFear - that does sound like a pretty great premise.

Think that like the rest of the Disney+ shows though, it's gonna be set some years after the Blip. Although they could still incorporate that as a sort of catalyst for the story

Man I really hope Sam Jackson is in Tarantino's 10th film. In whatever capacity, just feels like it has to be.
