BIG HERO 6 Characters Rumored To Make Live-Action Debut In Upcoming Marvel Studios Project

We don't have a whole lot to go on, but a new rumor is claiming that characters from Disney's Big Hero 6 animated movie will make the jump to live-action in an upcoming Marvel Studios project...

Could we see characters from Disney's Big Hero 6 make the jump to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in live-action form? That's the rumor currently doing the rounds online.

According to The Disinsider (which has a pretty good track record with Disney-related scoops), certain characters from the 2014 animated movie will make their live-action debut in an upcoming Marvel Studios project. They're not sure which ones, exactly, but we can expect Baymax and Hiro at the very least. It's also not clear if the original voice actors will be asked to reprise their roles, but we'd expect Marvel to recast.

The projects they mention as possibilities are Secret Invasion, Agents of Atlas, and Doctor Strange (In the Multiverse of Madness, presumably). An Agents of Atlas series was rumored to be in development late last year, but has yet to be officially announced.

Big Hero 6 was well received by critics, and although it didn't exactly set the box office on fire, it was a modest enough hit. A Disney XD series launched in 2017 (it aired its series finale earlier this month), and Disney recently announced a Baymax spinoff for the Disney+ streaming service, but fans have been hoping for another big screen adventure for the colourful crime-fighters.

We're sure they'd be just as excited by the prospect of seeing the team mix it up in the MCU-proper, but we'll have to see how this one pans out.

Most likely they’ll come from another universe as The Big Hero 6 movie is not canon to the MCU or it could be new versions of these characters.

@tb86 - They don’t need to come from another universe, they’ll probably just be the MCU counterparts of BH6

@tb86 - Marvel doesn't even get a title credit in the Disney adaptation of Big Hero 6.

I’ve been wanting this for so long. We even have a Tadashi Easter egg in AoU already, and Hiro and Baymax are characters I can easily see being used in the MCU (though I wonder if they’d do comic Baymax or movie).

Best bets to show up? Comics usually they’re associated with Spider-Man or mutants, but I could also see someone like Hiro used in Agents of Atlas

@Armageddon26 - Since the movie one is essentially a big pudgy Groot-stand-in, I bet Disney opts for the cash blob.

That said, I am a sucker for Baymax. The thing is cute as hell!

@Armageddon26 - maybe it’s the San Francisco/FranTokyo connection, but it feels like they would fit in an Ant-Man movie.

@TheRose - Man, when it comes to cute characters that captures hearts, Disney is probably the best in the business.

@Reeds2Much - There's a different iteration in the comics thats closer to the movie right?

If it’s the same characters from the animated film then it’ll have to be multiverse since that world has absolutely nothing to do with the MCU. But since they are actual characters from the comics they could just be new, nothing to do with the animated films apart from having the same names.

I feel like they're going to be more inspired by the movie more than the comic.

Of course it'll be the movie version. There's a reason BH6 basically vanished off the face of 616 after their initial 3 issue mini.
