Further Proof of a Death in the Family

New pictures confirm the graphic nature of DC's animated feature Under The Red Hood.

If the previous image of Batman holding the beaten body of Jason Todd eased your doubts about Under the Red Hood the following should completely erase any doubts you had and give you hope that we'll see the greatest animated adaption ever.

Todd Growing up

The Joker...with a crow bar

A bloodied Todd.

More beatings

and the death of Jason Todd.

And the memorial...

Nightwing

Batman:

It looks to me like Bruce Timm definitely meant it when he said this would be darker than anything he's done before. If these images are anything to go from Under the Red Hood could very well surpass Return of the Joker and perhaps even challenge the Mask of the Phantasm. Only time will tell. One question remains though, if this movie is as stellar as all that what's next for Timm? Where do you go after bringing a Death in the Family and Under the Hood to the screen?

@Tea I liked Crisis except for some of the voices. I love Gibs on NCIS but not as Superman. LOL

Did you think that the President of that other world might have been Deathstroke's doppelganger?

Good to know. I'll see it anyway but at least I'll go in knowing what I'm already gonna be disappointed by. Batman getting his ass kicked every 5 minutes? Geez, didn't the creators of this flick read the 20 Nerd Commandments?! Batman always wins!
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 2/18/2010, 12:30 PM
I thought it was pretty decent, and come on let's face it; realistically Batman IS going to get his ass kicked every five minutes when he's up against the likes of Superwoman and the Marvel Family. And he still wins even though he gets brutally beaten.

In other news, this is going to be amazing. It's already surpassed my hopes for the movie, I thought that at best we'd get one or two vague flash backs, but from these and other pictures I've seen it looks like they're spending a significant amount of time with Todd before he becomes the Red Hood.

Oh and here's night wing

I just edited into the article, it should be there now, as well as what batman will look like and the progression of Jason Todd's robin...it looks like we get to see him when he first started and after he grew up a little.

Aw.. I hate it when Nightwing has really short hair.
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 2/18/2010, 1:11 PM
Meh, I don't mind it...I mean the ponytail thing just looked odd. I think it was supposed to say hip and cool superhero back in the day...but now all it says is, "Hey, I have a van...and I have some candy in it."
Shaman
Shaman - 2/18/2010, 1:12 PM
WOW... Batman is looking AWESOME!!! Nightwing's cool, i mean the suit is the best we've ever seen of him so far outside of the comics but... i would have gone for a Tom Welling hair cut rather than a Sam Worthington one. I don't like the pony tail either but McDaniel's art should've been a reference here.

As much as I liked Planet Hulk, I don't think it ever had an up on any of the DC animated movies...well maybe superman doomsday...but that's it.

LOL! AZREAL!..for some reason I LOVE that costume!
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 2/18/2010, 2:11 PM
yeah, it's an awesome costume, I didn't think its aesthetics would out live the 90's but it remains one of the coolest costumes to date.

I could see a Knightfall movie working in the future, I just hope it's handled better than the death of superman.

They're doing Death in the Family as part of this Under the Red Hood? COOOOL!!!!! Death in the Family was an incredible story. I was already looking forward to this with yesterday's news. This only heightens my hope that we may actually see a challenge to Mask of the Phantasm as the greatest Batman film ever.

Knightfall could work, but they would probably need to rush parts of it to keep the running length to a reasonable time. Maybe one day.

Damm.... The more I see pics of Under the Hood the more I can't wait for this. I deffently believe its going to beat Batman Return of the Joker, and Superman/Batman Public Enemies. The only way I can see this beat MotP if Bruce Greenwood, and John DiMaggio are just as good as Kevin Conroy, and Mark Hamil as Batman and Joker. I know its only a few sketches, and only 2 full pics of the movie, but it looks great. I agree BIGMH they really gave Grayson a short hair cut, It looks more like they want some Doug Mahnke's art style into the animation judging from Nightwing's image.

@thwhtGuardian

You made me lol, so thanks for that!

@Sigmax

I hope Hush isn't in this really, I've always hated Jason Todd and Hush as characters... actually, I hated Red Hood too, but I'm still looking forward to this like no other.

I need to check out that story to get a better understanding but if this adaptation is the way I think its gonna be then it could very well be the greatest DC animated video ever. (at least the darkest anyway)

I'm really looking forward to this. Death in The Family is one of my all-time favorite Batman stories. I'm a big Nightwing fan too. I dig the short hair. Wouldn't long locks just make it easier for bad guys to get a hold of you?!
