What Is Brad Bird's Current Progress On THE INCREDIBLES 2?

With Tommorrowland set to hit theaters on May 22, director Brad Bird is beginning the first leg of his press tour. Naturally, one of the first questions asked was how are things going on The Incredibles 2. Here's his answer.

Though a sequel to The Incredibles was announced last year, director and scrennwriter Brad Bird just told NPR [via ScreenRant], that he's only just now sat down to work on the script.  This actually makes perfect sense as Bird has been busy filming Tomorrowland, starring George Clooney and Britt Robertson.  With the sci-fi action flick set to hit theaters next month, it appears that Bird is finally free to start work on The Incredibles 2.

Announced by CEO Bob Iger last March during a Disney shareholders meeting, it sounds as if The Incredibles 2 is still a long ways off.

The fact that we're getting two Cars sequels and unnecessary sequels to Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3 before an Incredibles 2 is pretty damn depressing.

Would be so cool to see what these characters would be like after a decade+.

This right here.....this is the superhero film of all superhero films. Marvel, DC, they WISH they could touch The Incredibles.

Bring on the second film.

Wonder if we'll get a super villain team to go against them this go around? Either way, I can't wait. Violet should be an adult and Dash should at least be in his late high school/early college years by now.

The first film was 'ok' but the issue is the idea wasnt anything too unique at the time and the superhero genre has kind of been flooded recently. I dont think anyone wants to see an Incredibles film set 10+ years after the first one... i know for sure i dont.

The main drive of the incredibles was its family superhero nature, how they interacted as a family... and at the rate its going we wont see this till 2017 at the earliest (13+ years after the first film)

I'm sorry, i really am, but i think its lost its time to be made.

@fettastic We don't need sh*t.
It was simply among the few Pixar movies that warranted a sequel.

After this year, the upcoming Pixar films will include

-Incredible 2
-Finding Dory
-Cars 3
-Toy Story 4

A troublesome trend when Pixar becomes a house of only sequels. Perhaps they need to go back and watch Ratatouille to remember the message of that film.

Fair enough.
The Incredibles always reserved a sequel! There's so many more adventures to tell.
