Evangelion 2.0 to be released in theaters... in Japan.

Hideaki Anno´s second film in the Neon Genesis Evangelion remake saga, Evangelion 2.0: You Can [Not] Advance, will be released on June 27 at Japanese Theaters. No word on when it will (if ever) hit American theaters.

While some Anime-devoted Sites may already know abut this, i think it is good to know that a new Evangelion movie is coming to theaters.

This from PhilAnime.com:
"The 2nd film will focus on Asuka Langley, the EVA-02 through -06 units with new designs for many of them, a new eyeglasses-wearing brunette girl character, more fan “service-service,” “a shocking new story, and new visuals.”

There seems to be a merchandising campaign accompanying the movie:

sputnik.com.mx says that starting next March 14 there will be available new action figures from the Be@rbrick Toys line.

The site says that there is no confirmed or official date to launch the movie in America.

Though Evangelion 1.0: You Are [Not] Alone did not make it officially to theaters on this side of the world, there will be a "1.11" DVD and Blu-Ray edition in Japan. Funimation will bring that DVD to America by mid-year of 2009.
