Whitewash lol. I love scarlett though. Hope it kicks ass but at times I wish they were faithful to the Japanese culture and casted as in actors. If I takes place in Japan, is scarjo character just statiined there

I don't know a lot about Ghost in the Shell, it's definitely got my interest though.

Sucks that both Jungle Book movies have been pushed back now, but I'm still really looking forward to them. Especially the Andy Serkis version

Amazing how there's none of the "Motoko is Japanese! Casting an american is an insult to the character" on this site when the change is whitewashing. Everyone seems cool with it. We didn't get quite the same reaction to Johnny Storm or Idris as James Bond. Wonder why that could be...

I know Henry Cavill debunked the Batman v Superman split rumors, but Disney moving the Jungle Book now paves the way for a potential blockbuster movie, be it BvS Chapter 1 or whatever, to take that spot and hold #1 for 3 weeks. With WB and Disney playing nice after their earlier showdown over Cap 3's release date, I wonder...

I would rather they didn't Americanize Anime,I suppose i'll give it a chance on the strength of Edge Of Tomorrow which was also adapted from a Manga.

Disney? Dreamworks? what the he11?! "Ghost in the Shell" MUST be rated R and have a lot of nudity! What Disney and Dreamworks are doing here?! F*ck this adaptation...

I hope that this turns out well. At some point, manga and anime are going to make that same successful leap to the silver screen that comic books have in recent years. Someone's bound to do this right eventually...right?

The anime is a classic. Kinda wish they weren't remaking it.

Better be rated r....ghost in the shell is mature. DreamWorks being involved scares me that it'll be pg13

Pass. Not interested since Hollywood has already ruined this adaptation by whitewashing the Major.

It's funny how only in America people get outraged at this but the people who enjoy these things over there like Japan and shit don't even care. I'm not dismissing it but I just find it funny the opposite group gets offended for the other group.

To everyone complaining about "whitewashing".

You know Motoko's nationality is never mentioned? Or that throughout the course of the franchise she's changed bodies several different times? Or that for long stretches of time she doesn't even occupy a physical body, and the ENTIRE POINT of her character is that she is a "ghost", a consciousness, that has existed in cyerspace and different "Shells" for so long even she doesn't even remember her original form, if it ever existed at all?

Seems like you're just looking for reasons to be offended. It's old.

@ RetroFit

Thats like saying we should make James Bond American and turn MI5 into the CIA because the movie gets released in North America.

mrHJK - 1/13/2015, 3:34 PM
@Demongod20 - James Bond movies aren't made by Hollywood. The production is based out of England.

This is the reason movies like Black Panter would never get made by a normal hollywood studio. They would just make him a black american hero an mess up his origin.

@Demonluv

Her name is MOTOKO KUSANAGI, and the [frick]ing series is set in Japan. Granted the city is fake, but it's still meant to be a Japanese city.
