ANT-MAN 3 Star Jonathan Majors May Be Out As Kang; Marvel Studios Said To Be "Discussing Options"

We still don't know how Marvel intends to proceed following some very troubling allegations against Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Jonathan Majors, but it sounds like he might be out as Kang...

It sounds like Marvel Studios may soon be searching for a new Kang!

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Jonathan Majors was recently taken into police custody after an alleged assault on a woman (believed to be his girlfriend) in a New York City apartment. The actor's lawyer claimed that her client was "completely innocent, and "probably the victim," promising to present evidence that would clear him of any criminal wrongdoing.

Unfortunately for Majors, said evidence only seemed to incriminate him even more, as texts seemingly revealed that his alleged victim asked for forgiveness for what occurred after "trying to grab your phone."

Majors has not been charged (as far as we know), but Marvel Studios may still decide to sever ties rather than allow him to stay on as Kang and risk a significant amount of backlash.

Studio reps have reportedly met with Majors' representatives, but have yet to come to a decision. Insider Jeff Sneider has heard that they are "discussing options" about the best way to proceed, but it certainly sounds like another actor stepping in as the Phase 5 villain is a distinct possibility.

What do you guys make of this situation? If Majors walks, do you think he should stay on as Kang im the MCU? Drop us a comment down below.

@HydraB0b - I loved him on Ballers and Black Klansman, but he was kinda wooden in Tenant. I wonder if genre fare might not be his thing.

You know who's got a proven track record in genre fare, though, is that Boyega fellow. Though I can't imagine he and Disney are that interested in rekindling that particular relationship.

@ClintThaHamster - Boyega wouldn’t turn down any type of chance to be the lead villain the biggest franchise in the world, no matter how much he wants to act hurt about how Finn’s arc played out. Heck, he’ll be back for that Rey movie too, watch.

@PlusUltra - i can get him not being happy with finn, but kang would (theoretically) be a meatier part

@tmp3 - He’s not “happy” because he thought it was over. Once he’s swinging that lightsaber around in Rey the Movie, he’ll change his tune about Finn quicker than Natalie Portman did about the Thor franchise.

@ClintThaHamster - Couldn't agree more about how wooden Washington was in Tenet. That was the first performance of his I had seen and thought he was really bad. But your suggestion of Boyega is a really good one! That would be a great choice. I could see it after watching him in Woman King.

@HydraB0b - he was my pick for tchalla when there were rumors of recast. I think he’d be a great villain. He’s got charisma. I’m all for this.

@ClintThaHamster - It was definitely direction in the case of Tenant.

Saw him in The Piano Lesson and he owned the hell out of that play.
