Edgar Wright Already Planning Another Ant-Man Movie Draft

The Scott Pilgrim VS The World director hasn't forgotten about his tentative Ant-Man film, but he'll need a short break before continuing with the project.

It's been awhile since any Ant-Man movie news has been released, and it's had fans wondering if the project will ever be green-lit. A few months ago, Marvel President Kevin Feige disclosed that the film is being planned for release after The Avengers hits theaters in 2012, and that a first draft script had already been turned in by Edgar Wright; who has been signed on to direct.

During an interview regarding his latest comic movie adaptation, Scott Pilgrim VS The World, Wright commented on his progress with Ant-Man:

"Once I finish ['Scott Pilgrim'] and collapse for at least a month, I'm going to get back into writing it. I wrote a draft before 'Scott Pilgrim' and my second draft is very much overdue to Marvel. It's something that I've written and they very much liked the first draft that we did, me and Joe Cornish, so we're excited to get back into it again."

Hopefully, once Marvel approves a working draft for the film, casting will officially begin. Until then, comic fans will have to keep making their preferences heard in hopes that Marvel Studios is listening.

Great find MULTI! :)

It would be great if they could squeeze this in before The Avengers in order to give Hank and Jan a proper introduction but I'll be happy to see this movie at any point in the near future especially with Wright involved.

I'm sure I read an interview with him once where he said Scott Lang would be the main character...that would be awesome as he was a great Ant-Man with a really interesting origin story. It would be easy to include Hank and Jan in that sort of movie as well IMO.

I hope there's some mention of Pym in either Thor or Cap.

Good for him, great news!!

Though its gotta be the SCOTT LANG storyline where he takes the suit from HANK, HANK in it but only a small part as he should have a bigger part in AVENGERS!

Oh yeah and WASP too! : P

My pick for Hank Pym is Jason Bateman, but I'm not really all that attached to that fan cast.

However, if they ever did an Irredeemable Ant-Man movie, Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad would be the perfect Eric O'Grady!

Scott Lang should definitely be the main character!
Patrick Wilson-Hank Pym
Wasp-Evangeline Lily
Scott Lang-Peter Krause

Looking forward to this movie. There are so many ways Marvel can go with this. If it is strictly Ant-Man and those powers, make it Scott Lang. Save Hank Pym and all his incarnations for Avengers movies.

first off, awsome poster from helagood, and i agree, [frick] ant-man. i mean come on, who cares about ant-man? he's one of stan lee's only mistakes. heres what i think happened with this movie, wright wanted to do a comic movie, all he could get was hank pym, so he never focused on it. then he got scott pilgrim, cause he's had ant-man for [frick]ing years. and now he realizes he cant put it off anymore, he knows you cant make a movie on pym

@SirPrize: It's pretty much confirmed that Wendon's the director. Hold your head up. We'll get through this together.

I would much rather see a solo Ant-Man film with Scott Lang instead of Pym, but we need Pym for the Avengers (and everything else he's connected to in the Marvel Universe).

Wright could make an AWESOME Antman solo film. Hilarious and full of action. He has proven he can work in a genera and make it funny without it being a full fledged parody. I remember early on he commented on how cool fight scenes with a guy who could quickly change size could be. That could be great.
