Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish Offer Minor Ant-Man Update: Near Finishing Script!

The signed on director for Marvel Studios' Ant-Man cinematic adaption, Edgar Wright reveals that he & his co-writer Joe Cornish are finishing up the 2nd draft and more. Check it out!

In chatting with The Playlist at the SXSW, Attack The Block director Joe Cornish, & executive producer Edgar Wright offered a slight update on Marvel Studios' long-productive Ant-Man adaption. With Wright directing the film, and Cornish co-writing...

“We’re currently working on it, not right now. But the day after tomorrow we’ll go to Los Angeles and…[nods to Edgar],” Cornish said about the status of the film. “We kinda have a stock response now, it’s true to say we’ve been writing it in some form,” “Weirdly, the treatment for ‘Ant-Man’ exists before Marvel Studios.

There was a treatment that Joe and I did when Artisan had the kind of lower-rung Marvel properties and we wrote a treatment for it that exists before ‘Hot Fuzz.’ Basically, when I met Kevin Feige I said, ‘Oh, did u ever get our ‘Ant-Man’ treatment?’ and he had never read it so we submitted it properly like four years later. So it’s something and me and Joe genuinely been working on for nearly a decade and at some point we’ll finish the script.”

In addition, the site further states that once they meet in L.A., Wright and Cornish will likely polish off a new and/or updated draft, submit it, and then let let things progress. Wright essentially revealed the film would be a high-tech spy heist genre, however, with the astonishing avenger at the story's center.

Something brilliant I've noticed in Marvel's way of developing their films, is utilizing well-known genres, and throwing a superhero in the mix. A perfect example: Thor being somewhat of a Shakespearian drama, Captain America a somewhat period war movie, and The Avengers potentially being an Alien invasion flick. Though maybe unintentional, it's a great approach in developing stories for the many properties in the works: Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Luke Cage among others. What do you think?

This is news I've been longing to hear! Despite what the majority may think Pym/Ant-man is a great character! I can't wait for the bigger wheels to be in motion for this!

Marvel made a big mistake by not introducing Hank and Jan in any of their past and upcoming movies...here's hoping this gets made ASAP so we see 'em in The Avengers 2! :)

@croniccris- i would replace fury and widow in a heartbeat to see hank and jank take their place in the movie. lee is right. its not the avengers withought them. hell jan coined the phrase "the avengers" and hank built one of their most famous villains ultron.

I wonder if they're going to have Lang or O'Grady as AntMan since they were both criminals sort of. O'Grady did steal the suit. And I haven't seen Wright say Pym yet only AntMan. You can have either of the 2 steal the suit from Pym and game on.
Whatever the story I'm game. AntMan needs to get his due along with Jan, 2 original Avengers being snubbed

If Edgar uses Hank Pym in his ant man movie this then will [frick] up his chances to be in any avengers films. Because I remember reading that he plans on using Hank Pym in the 60's and Scott Lang in the present. I hope what I read isn't true and I hope Hank and Jan is in the avengers.

All five original Avengers should be in the first Avengers film or else it's a fail to me. It's like having a JLA film without GL and Flash. Stoooooopid! I mean really, is it asking too much of hollywood to keep all 5 original members in the origin story? It really shouldn't be.

I like these guys a lot so will probably watch any movie they make but Ant-Man is possibly my least favourite super hero of all. Yes, I think Aquaman is better! Pym himself can be interesting, but no, not anticipating this too much at all.

I see the perfect oppurtunity for a BP intro/cameo if the have Klaw as the villain......

Any Ant-Man movie without Janet Van Dyne, as the Wasp or not (yet) would be like a Superman movie without Lois Lane. There could be a love interest, but no-one cares about her and secretly wishes she would die by the end so the hero gets to be with his one true love.
