Paul Rudd Teases ANT-MAN's Future In The Marvel Cinematic Universe And More

Paul Rudd talks in detail here about Marvel's Ant-Man, jokingly comparing his new buff bod to those belonging to Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt. The actor also reveals how the movie fits into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and reveals that the character will soon turn up elsewhere...

In the following interview, Paul Rudd expresses his enthusiasm to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Ant-Man, discussing getting into shape to play Scott Lang, his love of Marvel Studios and "mad scientist" Kevin Feige, and how he feels about the movie's chances of success.

Rudd also addresses the mixed response to the first trailer, making it clear that Ant-Man isn't an out and out comedy, but explaining that it's going to be a funny movie. He then goes on to talk in detail about how Edgar Wright's departure may have been because Marvel wanted to make Ant-Man a greater part of the MCU - rather than a standalone movie - and reveals that he expects to see the character turn up elsewhere because he's actually spoken to the studio about exactly that.

Rumour has it that Ant-Man will show up in Captain America: Civil War, so stay tuned for updates...

Good stuff. Looking forward to this movie. Looks like it should be a lot of fun and I feel like for an Antman movie that should be he primary goal.

Scott being Giant Man size or Hope suited up as the Wasp would be amazing to see on screen. Not only that, but I`d like to see Stark joke about the abundance of "bug" themed heroes

Love Paul Rudd. High, or jut little uncomfortable? Can never tell with his interviews.

Really hope to see him in Civil War. More 'enhanced' characters in that film the better

Looks like Civil War is in competition with BvS in terms of shoeing in characters. So far, BvS only has plans to have 4 super hero small cameos while Civil War is pretty much adding every super hero to ever appear in MCU as well as Black Panther, Spider Man and Captain Marvel. I don't doubt that the movie will be entertaining, but don't call it Captain America 3 when all of the heros will be overshadowing the main character.

I've always been a Paul Rudd fan. He's funny, has impeccable timing, and can even be very good in a bad movie. Him, Douglas, and Lily are the reasons I'm even remotely excited for this movie. Still likely won't see it in theatres, as it's not drawing me in enough to drive 2 hours (Gotta save my gas money for Fantastic Four). But it definitely looks like an interesting entry into the MCU, and I won't miss anything by not seeing it in theatres, as it'll be out on Blu-Ray before Civil War hits theatres.

Iron Man 3 was fantastic. Great script, great execution, great twist that pissed off SO MANY fake Mandarin fans, and RDJ at his best.

Im ready to see Evangeline transform into Wasp soon. I just hope we dont have to wait 3-4 years for that.

Maybe in Civil War? because the Russos wont have time to develop her transformation in the Infinity war movies, with all those characters. Its like impossible to include a full arc about it

That is actually my concern about this character so far. We already know that Black Panther will be very involve in the MCU and his movie is not that soon. And Ant-man wich will be relase soon seems like Agent of shield: connected but in the surface.
I really want to see him in Civil War.

Despite many rumors that Rudd is a jerk "in real life," I enjoy his movie/TV work, and he seems genuine in interviews like this. Do we know how many films Rudd has signed on for?

I'm not sure what Lang's Ant-Man adds to the Avengers roster/dynamic -- unless he gains the ability to grow to giant size. Do we need a guy who gets tiny?

At least Pym contributed to the science and tech of the team, like Tony.

Still, a bigger universe is a better universe.

he will grow at the end of this first movie
then Giant-Man will be next.

I dont think there will be a sequel to Ant-Man.

@DruZod

I don't want to get into a full argument about Iron Man 3. So I'm only gonna respond to one thing.

The President. No one knew he was taken. Savin boarded the plane as Rhodey, killed or trapped anyone on the plane, sent the President off in the Iron Patriot suit, with a preloaded flight plan. He was kept on the tanker for hours, not days or weeks or months.

Where were the Avengers? Where were they in Cap 2? Thor 2? C'mon, that's a silly argument. If the Avengers had to solve every problem, there would be no solo movies.

Where was SHIELD? I don't know. But we already knew at that point that Tony was not a fan of SHIELD, and at the end of the Avengers, Fury told the council that he wasn't tracking them. Plus, SHIELD wasn't dealing with the Mandarin, the government was. SHIELD tends to deal with bigger threats than a terrorist.

The whole damned government couldn't find the Mandarin. They were shown to be just as inept as they are in real life, plus, the Vice-President was working with Killian, so once the President was kidnapped, all decisions go through him, meaning nothing would be done by the government.

Yeah, you can pull a movie apart by pulling on threads, but you also need to see how well those threads tie the movie together.

I'll give you one thing though, the PTSD was not handled very well. It was used as a plot device for the reason he built a few faulty suits, and was fixed to easily.
