THEORY: Could S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Mid-Season Finale Include A Connection To ANT-MAN?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s third season has been dealing with some pretty unique stuff, but did Ant-Man already lay the foundation for the show's mid-season finale? Click to read one fan's new theory.

(duh)

If you would, please take a moment to revisit the Hydra scene from Ant-Man in your mind. We always knew Darren Cross wanted to use shrinking tech to nefarious ends, but I don't think any of us thought he would wind up selling the long-in-the-works Cross Particles (a replication of Hank Pym's own Pym Particles) to Hydra.

While that deal was halted and Ant-Man managed to put a stop to Yellowjacket, we briefly get to see Hydra higher-up Mitchell Carson making off with a vial of Cross Particles. While some immediately thought of Grant Ward, Hydra's newest leader, we now know that he never had the funds nor the resources to bring this to fruition. However, Kevin Feige did seemingly hint at a connection between the movie and the show. So how else could one affect the other?

If one reddit discussion is to be believed, the answer could be Gideon Malick. We learned in the recent episode "Many Heads, One Tale" that Baron Von Strucker has had a mini-Monolith locked in a vault, explaining the holes in the sides of the much larger Monolith that FitzSimmons traveled through. That Monolith is now destroyed, so Gideon's only hope of bringing their long lost Hydra-god back from Planet Maveth now lies in the miniature Monolith.

But as one can see, it is far too small for a whole person to travel through. This could be the reason why Hydra head Malick, with far more resources than Ward, would have wanted the Cross Particles. While it may seem bizarre to miniaturize people to go through it, they could always reverse-engineer the particles and make the Monolith bigger. We've all read the rumors of dispute between the TV and movie divisions of Marvel, so if they actually do go this route, it will be a huge feat.

Pretty neat, huh? It remains to be seen whether this theory holds any weight, but I imagine we'll find out by the mid-season finale, titled "Maveth." Be sure to let me know what you think in the comment section below! DO IT!

I like this theory.

That could actually be great. Hopefully Mitchell Carson appears. And also, didn't the actor himself said that we haven't seen the last of him

My main excitment is about the death that will occur in the finale. Clark Gregg did say that the death will make Tripp's death look like a joke. But at this point I am mentally ready to see anyone die.

Off-topic:
Was going through the link you posted above and saw posts of a show being 'monster of the week'. Were they talking about AoS. Because AoS was serialized since the beginning of episode 15 of S1, amd continues to be ever since.

Speaking of AOS theories (absolutely no idea if this was already talked about at some point):

I'm a huge fan of the silly shit the casts of SHIELD and Agent Carter have done with their humorous Dubsmash battles and later Dubsmash War for Charity. The final video from Team SHIELD featured a lot of the cast and crew members from the show for a big choreography.

The possibly interesting thing is that among them were also former cast members BJ Britt (Trip) and Simon Kassianides (Bakshi). Now both teams did a lot of crazy stuff in their videos (like bringing in Chris Evans and Stan Lee), and Chloe Bennet herself twittered jokingly about their inclusion ("WE BROUGHT PEOPLE BACK FROM THE DEAD"). So them being there might likely really just be a funny thing under friends and colleagues.

On the other hand we now know that a part of the story is about an entity trapped on a distant planet that happens to be able to appear in different forms and is strongly associated with the theme "death". Jemma Simmons went there, encoutered the entity, seems to be the first person to ever make it back and plans to return. Now Trip was friends with Simmons and she was especially shaken after his death, while Bakshi was the first person Simmons killed in the field.

So maybe, just maybe those two weren't on set entirely for the fun of it. Maybe they were, though. ^^

If true, that'd be awesome. I am eagerly anticipating whatever the "Winter Soldier" level twist will be. This season has been phenomenal...puts both previous seasons to shame.
