The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros. has hired screenwriters Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300) to pen two separate scripts for an upcoming Aquaman film. The film will be one of the nine upcoming installments after Batman v. Superman that will help shape DC's Cinematic Universe. The film is being developed on dual tracks, meaning that two scripts will be written, one by Beall and one by Johnstad, but only the best version will move forward.

A week ago, Warner Bros announced nine upcoming DC projects, the earliest of which comes August 5, 2016, a few months after their most ambitious DC adventure, Batman v. Superman. Based on this news, there is a good chance Aquaman may take this spot. However, accounting for unforeseen issues, 2017 may be the better bet as WB already has two DC releases set for June 23 and November 17.

No definitive word on the cast yet, but Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) has been confirmed/rumored to be making a cameo as Arthur Curry/Aquaman in Batman v. Superman. He'll likely reprise the role in this solo adventure.

Nothing against Beall, he is great for the Castle series. But i thought Gangster Squad and that failed JL script would prove that he is not fitting for big cinematic storries?

Aquaman is being developed on dual tracks, where studios and producers hire two separate writers to work on a project in the hopes of getting the best version.

One of the reasons for the practice is the setting of release dates while the project is still in development and giving it a muscular push. Warners needs just that as last week it dated nine untitled DC movies between 2016 and 2020.

I am so excited for this film, Throne of Atlantis is (in my opinion) the best New 52 story. Plus, I think Momoa is the perfect guy to bring Aquaman to the big screen.

AQUAMAN WILL BECOME FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY A CHARACTER WE CONSIDER TO BE BAD-ASS, AND THIS IS ALL THANKS TO ZACK SNYDER.

YOU CANNOT SERIOUSLY DENY THAT FACT.

ZACK HAS A UNIQUE VISION THAT BRINGS OUT THE BEST IN THESE CHARACTERS, AND IN OURSELVES AS FANS.

Agree @DrunkenNukem
Just looking at this left me worried.

Not to say they can't pull it out of the bag though however I do hope GJ has a lot to say in the script.

If said before, and will continuously do so, but there's now way WB doesn't have a WW in development. The time is now, they don't have any more excuses, and they've dropped a plethora of hints for a WW film. I think it'll come out within a year or two of JL's drop." Watch this space!"--- Mark Strong.
