Avengers: Age of Ultron - Thoughts on Quicksilver's "Look"

Avengers: Age of Ultron - Thoughts on Quicksilver's "Look"

With set photos from Avengers AOU, featuring Quicksilver, flooding this site, I thought I've give my opinion on the looks of Quicksilver.

Editorial Opinion

Two clarifications before I start; I'm a fanboy of Marvel studios so any negative critisim doesn't mean I'm a DC, Fox, or Sony fanboy looking to bash the film(I am a DC, Fox, and Sony fanboy aswell though).  I'm not the Marvel fanboy that praises everything Marvel does.

Fans everywhere are either excited or dissapointed at this point at our first look at Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver.  Where do I stand?  Close to the excited side, with some dissapointment mixed in.  With that being said, I think I will be eating those words by the time or before the film comes out.

The positives:

1.  White hair.

2.  More design on his suit.

3.  The suit physically fits him well.

The negative:

1.  Hair is too long.

2.  His beard (probably)confirmes his hair is dyed and not naturally white, in the film.

3.  Upper half of the suit is too light.

4.  The concept art looks better.

Reasons my negatives may be shoved down my throat later:

1.  Until we see something final, we do not know how much better they can make his look.

2.  We don't know how early in the film this scene is, but if it's is early in the film, he can always get a hair cut and shave.

3.  We don't know how many suits he may have, so as far as we all know this is his prototype suit and his final will be darker.

4.  The film may be leading up to a final look which resembles the concept art.

In conclusion, I am impressed as of right now, but I have to admit, from what we are seeing, there can be improvements.  I also would like fans to keep in mind that these are set photos, so there is hope for more improvement.

I actually like the beared look, but hey, that's me...I don't care about source for the MCU (as much, I should clarify) because it is it's (< weird ;) own universe...

@batz11 I like it too, I was just hoping his hair would be, in the film, naturally white, which it might be, but you would think the rest of hair would be too, meaning it's probably not natural... I'll get over though.

Quit hating. He looks awesome. He looks real. He's going to look even better with FX. Quit hating people. It's concept art. Not final photography.

@wally did you even read the whole thing?

I think it's sad that you had to outright defend yourself and say "I'm a Marvel fanboy I'm not hatin"
Don't be ashamed to have an opinion!

@cherry I'm not ashamed to have an opinion, but you know fanboys; they'll read my negative comments then jump to the comment to bash my opinion before they finish reading my article. Just trying to avoid some needless arguments.

The concept art was awesome! It looked exactly like the comic character. But these set photos of him look like s**t. Just as bad as DOFP. But Marvel has plenty of time to improve, so I'll reserve full judgement...

I Wonder how they'll explain the shoes being able to withstand all that force of running.

I actually really like the look. There's silver but not in excessive amounts that it looks absolutely dumb like Singer's version. Also I don't really mind the long hair or the beard. So I'm leaning more towards excited.

I find it hard to believe that this will be his final costume. Same with Scarlet Witch. These are street clothes. He's wearing tennis shoes for christ's sake.

Once they join the Avengers, officially, I'm pretty sure they will get actual costumes. Not some crap bought from Sports Authority.

@rex yes i did read the article. and i see that you finished the article with this may get shoved down my throat..

i understand everyone is allowed to have your opinions and all. I just dont understand the hate regarding his look in these pics.

I dont understand how you can all BASH Caps costume from the Avengers for looking too close to the comics and then turn around and go NOPE Quicksliver needs to have short hair and a spandex lightining suit. This Image doesnt look that different from the Concept Art that was released...

Which makes me even more confused. I just dont understand what You kids want from these movies.

@Wally I actually liked Cap's suit in the Avengers... I only want him to have short hair and a darker suit because it looks good in the concept art and I think it would translate well on Aaron as well. I didn't even care about him not having the lighting on his spandex, but I am glad they added it(it gives a more superhero vibe, to me at least). I like what they've done with the character, I just wish it was closer to the concept art... that all I really was saying.

@Wally Also there nothing about it I hate, just things I wish were improved, but like I said, this isn't a final look so I might be shoving my little nitpicks down my throat later.

You do realize that the studio will add in finishing touches to the look. I could say that i dont like Iron Man's new suit in the set pictures because it has track pants. I'm not attacking your opinion and i'm simply bringing a little clarity that the look of Quicksilver will be improved.
