How Much Screen Time Does Each AVENGER Have In AGE OF ULTRON?

In a team-up movie such as Avengers: Age Of Ultron, there are many characters that the film must juggle. So, did every character get a fair amount of screen time? Find out how much each Avenger got after the jump...

Avengers: Age Of Ultron is out for its second weekend in North America, and  it is met with mostly positive reviews. With the first movie, many didn't think that Joss Whedon could pull off such an enormous cast, and with the sequel having even more characters, the challenge is more difficult. In 2012, we found out how much screen time each Avenger got, so Vulture timed a Marvel movie for a second time to determine how much screen time every Avenger had this time around.

Vision - 8:41
Thor - 14:18
Hawkeye - 19:56
Scarlet Witch - 20:59
Bruce Banner / Hulk - 23:55
Quicksilver - 26:43
Black Widow - 33:07
Iron Man - 45:34
Captain America - 50:25

It isn't too surprising that Vision was last, considering he came into play later in the movie, though this list contains a couple of surprises. Quicksilver has a bit more screen time than his twin sister, Scarlet Witch. Captain America, like the last movie, has a bit more screen time than Iron Man, but now by a wider margin. Avengers: Age Of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and James Spader, and it is currently out now!

Story should always come first. Alotting equal time to each character shouldn't be a priority

Hawkeye's screen time seems a bit low compared to my impression. And Thor seems shockingly low. :O

Yeah, I wish Quicksilver was coming back....

Kevin Fiege says he's dead though....

I don't want to believe him

Also, Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver definitely aren't mutants in the comics....

@DrKinsolving didn't they say the same about coulson? I'm trying to be optimistic and hope that QS will come back, he had some awesome effects for his costume and his whole character was badass

Cap have more screentime than Stark but for action and stuff like that,Tony Stark has the main focus in this movie, and at last Cap is pretty useless and under developed.
ekrolo2
ekrolo2 - 5/9/2015, 5:26 AM
@Tempo

Tony did have more focus yet, but ultimately his whole arc is an almost verbatim retread of Iron Man 3. After he makes Ultron and his short argument with Steve, Tony really has nothing else in this movie that we haven't already been through multiple times by now. Same existential crisis shit since IM1.

Cap didn't get a lot of development per say, but it did show some potentially darker aspects to Steve's necessity for the mission by implying that he' needs it so badly, that the idea of Ultron & the Iron Legion making him obsolete terrifies him.

Quicksilver was [frick]ing awesome in AOU, one of his last scenes where he see's the Hellicarrier and is like "This is SHIELD?" "This is not so bad" , that got me. Plus, the effects and all of his scenes rocked, I want more, haha

I see what your saying, Fiege did say the same thing about Coulson, I hope he come back

It doesn't matter how much much screen time they have.
Hawkeye had a better and more important role than Hulk, black Widow, scarlet witch and Quicksilver.
It's how you use that time what matters.
ekrolo2
ekrolo2 - 5/9/2015, 5:33 AM
I do find it funny that the same fanbase that bitches and complains about death not mattering in comics clamor for death to matter nothing by bringing back Quicksilver.

@Bekss: Agree,it's quality and not quantity the matter.

Age of Ultron Quicksilver was so much better the DOFP Quicksilver

DOFP Quicksilver was Kid Flash.

Not only that, but AOU Quicksilver had so much more to do, and we actually saw him in battle with the Avengers, and we saw him punch Captain America, and we saw the relationship between him and Scarlett Witch, which is crucial to his character

DOFP Quicksilver had a cool scene, in the kitchen, where he never through a punch. He was also way overpowered.

All in all AoU did give me confidence that they can make the coming movies with their huge amount of characters work. Not everyone needs to have huge roles or massive character development.

Having characters like Sam Wilson and Rhodey show up like in the party scene or in War Machine's case the final battle just felt natural. At this stage of a project like the MCU you just have to throw in names and faces and expect the audience to know who it is.

I still have the have the silly hope that Civil and Infinity War will add at least some little nods to the small screen part of the MCU as well... :/

Like I said all along that Joss doesn't like the Thor character. Im so sick of him getting screwed. I was watching the movie saying to myself Thor could create a tornado and send all the Ultron bots somewhere but i guess that wouldn't make for much of a movie. Lol

KalElOdinson - 5/9/2015, 6:15 AM
14 minutes???? Thats no respect at all...

It's not Joss who doesn't like Thor, it's Marvel who doesn't like him.
