Robert Downey Jr. Talks AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON; Tells Which Avenger He Thinks Has The Most Importance

In a new interview Robert Downey Jr. tells us what to expect from Avengers: Age of Ultron, how leadership have shifted (in favor of Captain America), and which Avenger (he thinks) will have the most pivotal part in the film. Hit the jump to check it out!

In a new interview, Robert Downey Jr. told how his character Tony Stark has evolved since the first Avengers film and turned most of his attention to different aspects, "With the first film, The Avengers, Tony was becoming a team player and with Iron Man 3, it was him transcending his dependency on the tech that's keeping him alive." He then continues, "There's the matter of a certain wormhole that opened over New York and the imminent threat that still implies, so Tony has turned his attentions more toward a bit of a post-Reagan-era, Star-Wars-type notion and he likes to call it Ultron."

Robert Downey Jr. then tells the only two people in Tony Stark's life that he would "lower his status" for, "There are really only two relationships in Tony's life in which he's been willing to assume a lower status and one's with Pepper obviously, equal footing, and the other is with Cap" He then elaborates and tells why he would let Captain America A.K.A. Steve Rogers take control, "Cap has the most experience. It's also nice to feel like there's someone under whose tutelage you become better at what you have to do and no one's more battle-seasoned than Cap." Just as Stark said in our official TV Spot 2, Capt.'s the boss, he just designs everything and makes everyone look cooler!

He then talks about his favorite thing in the Avengers: Age of Ultron script, "To me it's further developing the complexities of the relationship between all the main folks. I like that Thor has a beef with me and then eventually has to say I'm right." He then says that (strangely) his favorite part of the script is the ending of the film, "It's just interesting and the way it all wraps up to me is super exciting but strangely my favorite part about Avengers: Age of Ultron is what's brought into potential at the end." Even though he's loves the end of the film most, Robert Downey Jr. reveals that he thinks Hawkeye's part of the story is most important, "Hawkeye's arc and his importance in the movie and where he brings us and what happens there and what it means." We already know that Hawkeye will be a mentor for the twins, but according to RDJ above, he'll have a much more important role.

Lastly, RDJ tells what he hopes the fans will get out of this film and what he liked most about working with director Joss Whedon. " Honestly, this time I just hope people say "Wow." I hope that they feel as good about this as they did when they came and saw the third Iron Man, or as they did when they saw the most recent Captain America and Thor" As for Whedon, Robert says he's "just really smart and he thinks stuff through." He also says that "Joss Whedon really brought it to another level by writing a very fun, deeper and wider story." Robert Downey Jr. will show up as Tony Stark next month in the highly anticipated Avengers sequel. After that, he will square off with his "buddy", Captain America in the third installment to the Captain America Franchise (Captain America: Civil War). Before you head out, here's a few questions: Which Avenger do you think will have the most important role in the film? Also, what is your favorite Iron Man (or Tony Stark) moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far? Sound off below with your thoughts!

Cap has the most experience. It's also nice to feel like there's someone under whose tutelage you become better at what you have to do and no one's more battle-seasoned than Cap.

More seasoned and experienced than Thor, who has been fighting for over a millenia? BS!

LOL HE WANTS PPL TO FEEL THE SAME AFTER IRON MAN 3???
So he wants to piss off the fans and hope we hate the shit out of it because iron man 3 was horrendous.

And yeah Thor is way more battle seasoned than Cap ..... Robert is high on coke. Lost his sense of the franchise lol.

@Ramiel Actually, in Thor, he's a immature kid warrior. He's been in battle, but he's arrogant and not wise enough. He's the equivalent of Steve pre-serum when he fights the guy outside the theater. It's not until theDark World that we see him becoming a true warrior. Cap is a leader. A soldier who knows how to win battles. Thor just knows how to fight, or at least used to be.

@TheGambitFreak

Still, Thor has won more battles than Steve has been in. There's nothing wrong with a cocky warrior. It's just Odin didn't want someone cocky on the throne. Thor is also a leader. He's led Sif and the Warriors Three to many battles. I can understand Tony wanting Cap to lead the Averngers, but to say that he picked Cap because he iss the most experienced and seasoned is pure rubbish.

I've seen it, it's hilarious. Funny thing, it does nothing to make me think less of the movie. Just like Winter Soldier, DOFP, GotG, or any of the other movies that Screen Junkies messes with.

Iron Man 3 had one of the best CBM scripts of all time. Such a smart movie. The execution was a little shakey, but I'm always amused by the hate it gets. Fry was right.

No, Cap is not remotely more battle-seasoned than Thor. That's a joke. Remember Thor's speech to the Warriors Three & Sif in the first Thor movie about the glorious battles he led them into? Cap barely has a few years experience. I never did accept Thor simply standing around in the first Avengers while Cap takes charge. Thor has plenty of experience fighting extra- terrestrial enemies. The very idea of "an army. from outer space." was clearly bizarre to Cap (understandably enough) earlier in the same movie.

I also don't buy Tony's line in the trailer about Earth needing someone "more powerful than any of us." Really? Ultron is more powerful than Thor? Seriously, why does Whedon so consistently underpower Thor? I grant you that his power levels are insane, but, okay, make the threat big enough. Maybe they've seriously upgraded Ultron's powers/abilities in the movie, but I'm skeptical. Oh, well... we'll see...
