Kevin Feige Teases Post-AVENGERS 4 Plans And When We'll See Ms. Marvel In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

During a recent Q&A, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige addressed the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers 4 and further teases plans for the Kamala Khan version of Ms. Marvel...

As of right now, Marvel Studios' plans beyond Avengers 4 are a total mystery and we currently have no idea what form Phase 4 will take beyond it including movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. However, as you can see from the Tweet below, Kevin Feige has shed at least a little more light on what's to come and there's a whole lot here for us to think about it.

For exactly, "different incarnations of characters you know" has to be a reference to someone else potentially suiting up as Captain America once Chris Evans decides to walk away from the role.

At this point, it's hard to imagine that the studios
has many "completely new characters" left to introduce but the Kamala Khan version of Ms. Marvel is obviously among them. Feige has previously indicated that plans are being put in place for the hero but made it clear that we won't see her until Brie Larson's Captain Marvel makes her debut (which makes sense if you've followed the comics).

"We wanted to get Captain Marvel out there first so that there is something for a young Muslim girl to get inspired by," he notes. What are you most excited to see from the MCU moving forward?

Speaking of Ms. Marvel, I think it's pretty weird that Carol probably won't ever use that identity in the MCU. She was Ms. Marvel for almost 40 years before she took up the Captain Marvel mantle. I suppose Carol's change is a lot more permanent, but it's kinda like making a Captain America movie in the 70's but Steve starts out as Nomad and never becomes Cap.

@MrMartyMarvel - Carol is a character with a lot of names like Binary and Warbird that show she never really "settled in" as Ms. Marvel, even though she moved in and out of that identity. Imagine if Dick Grayson was still running around thirty years after Batman died calling himself "and Robin". It was always a little awkward.

I mean, all of these characters have their own unique twists and turns in their history, and (as much as I've liked Carol for decades before she was Captain Marvel) it does mean something that you can essentially carve that name off of her and she doesn't lose much of value. (In my opinion, at least.)

@MrMartyMarvel - The difference is that Captain America was a pop culture icon even before the movies. Everyone knows the name and the costume. That's not the case for Ms. Marvel. Unless people remember her from the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon or a few video games, they likely aren't all that familiar with Carol Danvers as a characters.

@MrMartyMarvel - WTF? the Ms./Captain Marvel name change is nothing like the Cap/Nomad name change. The Cap change was a result of huge character moments with Steve becoming disillusioned with the government. Carol's on the other hand was more of a small homage to Mar-Vell, one that she had to be convinced into as well.

@Spock0Clock - Eh, I dunno. Her name certainly changed a lot during her time, but I think she's fairly iconic as Ms. Marvel. I was always pretty sure that the change to Captain Marvel only occurred because they knew they were gonna make a movie about her but wanted to make her seem like a stronger, more independent character. (Though, it does make sense for her to adopt the title as her character evolves, as you said.) It just kinda feels like a decent chunk of her history is being shaved off.

(And also I like her classic Ms. Marvel costume way more than her Captain Marvel costume. Not because sex or appeal or anything, but because it looks really cool.)

- Different incarnations of characters you know
- Introducing completely new characters from the comics you never heard of before

@Spock0Clock - exactly, he literally doesn't say anything we didn't know there. For most people, this isn't a surprise. He's literally being as vague as he can be, saying nothing much.

He's not as bombastic a hype man as Stan, but he knows how to seemingly promise everything while not really promising anything.
