AVENGERS 4 SPOILERS: It Seems We Now Know That At Least One Classic Avenger Survives INFINITY WAR

We still don't know which heroes will survive the events of Avengers: Infinity War but it now appears as if at least one original member of Earth's Mightiest Heroes will live to continue battling Thanos.

By the time Avengers 4 is released, the original contracts signed by Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Hemsworth will be at an end. That leaves their respective futures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe very much up in the air and all three have indicated that they could be ready to move on.

As a result, many fans believe the original Avengers - or some of them at least - will be killed off in Avengers: Infinity War to make way for a new team to assemble in the untitled fourth chapter.

Well, we now know at least one will make it out of that initial battle with Thanos as Chris Evans has been spotted arriving in Atlanta alongside Brie Larson. It's possible Captain America will still die by the time all is said and done, of course, but the future looks a little brighter for Steve Rogers in the MCU!

What do you think could be in store for Cap in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4? We know that he's essentially Nomad when we next see him but beyond that, his role remains a mystery!

He has publicly stated long ago that he extended his contract to be in Avengers 4 because that's what the story required.

I wouldn't put it past Marvel to have some of these actors show up in and around the sets just throw off the general public. Which of the original cast will die in these next movies will be the biggest thing to have happened in the MCU to date so I expect them to take all precautions to prevent a leak, at least a legitimate leak.

@bs77 -

Pretty much this. Though i think they are still somewhat following the original plan of the two movies being a 'part 1' and 'part 2'.

I remember a supposed leak from a while ago hinted that Iron Man or Captain America would die at the end of Part 1 using the Infinity Gauntlet to fix everything - only for the next movie to have the other member (Either Iron Man or Captain America) alter time to try and save the Avenger who died, eventually sacrificing themselves.

Thanks for the click bait, Josh. Collider, Reddit, etc all confirmed this yesterday. Late to the game as per usual.

Lets see;

Thor; His storylines are being rushed with Ragnarok so they are likely not going to use the character after Avengers 3/4.

Hulk; They forced a Planet Hulk style storyline into Ragnarok to ensure it is done before Avengers 3/4. This hints that it is unlikely he'll get a solo film.

Iron Man; His storyline has basically switched from being a personal story to a story of the Avengers, he is tied to the team to the extent where he is likely going to be the death that ends this group of Avengers. Being the starting hero in the MCU (ignoring Hulk in Incredible Hulk) it's likely he will die in Avengers 4.

Captain America; Bucky is very clearly being set-up as a potential replacement for him and is signed on for more films after Captain America's expires. His death, 'The death of Captain America' in the comics occured after Civil War so i can easily see this occuring. Though i think it'd be more interesting to have Captain America take up a 'Nick Fury' style position as leader of Shield (or Sword) to set-up the Skrull plotline they seem to be laying seeds for in Captain Marvel.

@Scarilian - it's always been unlikely that the hulk will get a solo film due to the deal with universal

@EnnisFan -

Being unlikely to get a solo movie is one thing.

Using aspects of his most popular story before Infinity War is another - they seem to intentionally be ensuring Thor and Hulk have the most popular storylines told before Infinity War which is normally a sign that they wont be dealing with the characters much after.

@Scarilian - I'm following your logic for sure, I'm just not really that surprised. It's been a long time and we've known they'd have to figure out a way to move on from the original Avengers. No idea how they're going to bring them back into the fold with new actors because they definitely will have to at some point, but it's just the unfortunate result of their success in keeping this thing running for as long as they have I guess.

@Scarilian - but Iron Man did come before the Incredible Hulk, right?

@Jaspion -
My mistake, derped on the dates.

@EnnisFan -
True, I expect it'll be something like this;

Thor; Odin is dead, Thor becomes king of Asgard and thus can no longer come to Earth to help the Avengers. He is still technically alive, but we'll likely not see him again.

Iron Man; Tony dies sacrificing himself to save Steve, cementing that the two forgive each other and Tony's death basically makes up for all the times he messed up in the MCU (Primarily Phase 3 - AoU, Civil War, Homecoming)

Captain America; Becomes the leader of Shield replacing Nick Fury, Bucky and Falcon become his 'Secret Avengers' for future movies focusing primarily on Bucky leading a team under the orders of Captain America

Hulk; Survives as Grey Hulk, but leaves deciding to travel alone, possibly appearing in another movie or Avengers 5 to give guidance or help to the new Avengers.
