AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: Here's Why Dave Bautista Decided Against Reading The Screenplay

Avengers: Infinity War is quite possibly the most highly anticipated superhero movie of all-time but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Dave Bautista has now revealed why he chose not to read the script.

It's fair to say that most of us here would kill/chop off a limb/sell our children to be able to sit down and read the Avengers: Infinity War screenplay but we're all going to have to wait until next May to find out what sort of twists and turns the movie has in store for us. The cast (or most of them at least) have obviously been given access to it but Dave Bautista has revealed why he decided against reading it.

As you can see below, the actor - who played Drax in the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films - didn't check it out because he wants to be surprised when he finally gets to see the movie and chose to avoid any spoilers. Like us, he's a fan and it makes sense that he would choose to be patient rather than reading ahead to see what's to come for Earth's Mightiest Heroes when they go to war with Thanos.

Bautista obviously would have had to read the parts including Drax but the Guardians are only expected to have a supporting role in Avengers: Infinity War so that probably wouldn't have ruined too much. Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland has revealed that he wasn't actually allowed to see the whole thing because Marvel didn't trust him but would you have the discipline to not read ahead?

Setting aside whether that's a good thing as a performer or not, it's super Drax-like.

I thought they never got the whole script...hmmm

It would be funny if he sat down with his popcorn and bag of M&Ms, and found out they decided to kill him off through CGI or off-screen.

So excited! And to think: just 4 years ago people were like "Who the F are the Guardians of the Galaxy?"

Now even my kids' grandmother says "I am Groot."

@NoAssemblyReqd - so it is your mother who says that, or maybe your mate's mother

@malsemarcel - My wife's mom, but called her "my kids grandmother" to emphasize that she became a fan through them. ;-)

@NoAssemblyReqd - It is weird that you dont have a different word for mothers mother and fathers mother in english. In Sweden we literaly say mothermother or fathermother. (Mormor and farmor in Swedish.)

Useless nowledge, but there you go :)

@Floke - We do have somewhat different words...it's just Mother if it's our own, and mother-in-law if it's our spouse's mother. Same goes for fathers....

@nickh0801 - he's talking from the kids' perspective. When you talk about your grandparents without specifying which one, how do we know if it's your mother's parents or your father's? What Floke was saying is that in Sweden they don't have this problem cause they have words for both.

@Denss - LOL, weirdest thread drift I ever sparked on CBM.com.

We call them maternal and paternal grandparents.

@NoAssemblyReqd - Indeed, but that's two words lol

@Denss - My kids call my mom "memaw" and my mother-in-law "grandma"
Denss
Denss - 8/7/2017, 12:58 PM
@nickh0801 - Well "memaw" is kind of a nickname I think, it doesn't apply specifically to the father's parents. Same for "grandma" with the mother's parents.
But you got a point I didn't think about that! So there's definitely a way to tell both apart in one word, but each family have their own way of doing it

nickh0801 - 8/8/2017, 9:46 AM
@Denss - yeah, it's definitely more of a nickname rather a specific name to call each of them to tell them apart such as mother's mother/father's mother. It was always "your grandmother on your mom's side" when I was a kid. or dad's side....

Who tf want to read the screenplay before watching the movie?

@KIDCOM - I was thinking the same thing! I painstakingly try to AVOID spoilers before these flicks come out, and I don't think I'm in a huge minority.

@KIDCOM - I'll read a leaked movie script online if I can get it. If a movie is good, then it won't be spoiled by knowing what happens before you actually see it.

I actually dont want to read the script but I do want to see the movie. Moving images over letters on a page anyday

@malsemarcel - But, you know "the book is always better" right?
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 8/4/2017, 4:04 AM
@ScionStorm - Screw that, a book is too timeconsuming for me
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 8/4/2017, 5:40 AM
@malsemarcel - That's just cause you aint got the skill. I could run laps round a basketball court while reading a book when I was in college. I didn't measure my workout by laps though. I measured it in number of pages read.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 8/4/2017, 5:56 AM
@ScionStorm - Well its more because all I see are letters. I dont think in images, thats why I prefer movies, series and comic books
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 8/4/2017, 1:12 PM
@malsemarcel - Awe, that's too bad. Books are one of the best workout tools for the mind's imagination. They are stories. With the proper details they are just a series of images waiting to be seen.

I like watching tv/film just as much as anybody but it is probably one of the weakest tools to exercise the imagination with. It's already doing most of the legwork for you. It's like having a spotter pull the bar up while you lie on your back and just hold on. Your arms are technically following the same motion, but with none of the effort and none of the gains.
