AVENGERS 4 Writers Are Anxious To Bring M.O.D.O.K. Into The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Avengers: Infinity War scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have brought a lot of key characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe but they're excited to get their hands on M.O.D.O.K.!

During a recent chat with Kevin Smith, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were asked which villains they would like to bring into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So far, they've introduced us to everyone from The Winter Soldier to Thanos and Baron Zemo but there's one slightly more obscure character they also have their eye on. Who? Well, you'll be glad to know it's the villainous M.O.D.O.K.!

Apparently, he nearly made an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War but Markus explains that it proved to be too tricky. "I've wanted to put M.O.D.O.K. in, and it's very hard to go 'here's the supporting character the giant head'.' And then we're going to get on with the story. We just came to him for information. Like you kind of have to design the whole movie around the guy with the giant head."

It is, of course, possible that we'll see M.O.D.O.K. make an appearance in Avengers 4 and while the writer wouldn't outright confirm that's a possibility, he reiterated the fact that he still wants to see it happen somewhere down the line because the villain has so much potential. "I have love for M.O.D.O.K. and I still think properly done he'd be terrifying. Like you look all the way down the hall and like this huge head comes around the corner and starts coming and...oh, it would be awesome."

I liked how he was done in the Ultimate universe. He was a normal man's head kept alive on tiny robot arms and legs.

@rabid - Nah. That’s nowhere near as weird as the original MODOK.

@rabid - Yeah.... NO. That garbage pales in comparison to classic MODOK.

@noahthegrand - I agree, but it's still a smart workaround to explaining a big giant head. I guess they could always involve Hulk serum or Pym particles.

@rabid - any of these could work I think:

@Spock0Clock -

why not ?
as weird as it sounds, it amazes me how Marvel have No difficulty bringing out all kinds of weird characters to the big screen
and dc can Not even bring a decent superman movie ....

@Equivocal - which is the greatest tragedy of all.

@Spock0Clock - Another shitty article. The directors explain how its difficult to put this character in the movie, and then we get. "Of course it's possible that we will see him in A4.." NO Its [frick]ing not lmao, the directors JUST said how difficult it is to put him in a movie, and it's a movie which isn't remotely about him. If we were gonna get MODOK he would've been in an ironman or a cap film. Look how Zola turned out.. he was a computer face on a screen instead of a walking robot.

@toylled - Difficult? Sure, Avengers 4 could be an introduction to the character (perhaps turning up in a stinger) but you have to ease audiences into a character like M.O.D.O.K. because he's too easy to make into a joke (as opposed to the Cronenbergian bit of body horror he actually is).

And I don't know what your problem with Arnim Zola was, but that was a great interpretation of the character. It took what was interesting about the character and made it fit–which is the hard part–within the world of the movie.

Which is exactly the way you want to treat M.O.D.O.K.

@Kevwebsz - I could also see Modok as a giant Asian head. It would be very interesting.

It’d be really difficult to put Modok in an Avengers film and have people actually take him seriously. He’d be better suited for a Deadpool film I think.

@Jhuntdaprodigy - Also in an Ant-Man movie, where laughter is assured.

@Repian - it could actually work really well in an ant man movie, especially if you have it as an accident where his head grows while his body doesnt. Have him be testing the stolen particles at AIM and have his containment suit break or something. It may be too similar to Yellowjacket though
