Hemsworth seems to have dropped 'The Avengers' start up date.

Did Thor let everyone know when Marvel plans to start filming 'The Avengers'?

Chris had this to say to MTV when asked about Louis Leterrier's involvement in directing 'The Avengers':

"I've heard a lot of names bounced around, and then we all gather together next January/February to shoot the thing," he said. "So, look--any of the people I've heard I'd be impressed by. I have no idea who it's going to be."

The Avengers currently is slated to hit theaters on May 4th, 2012, Thor is on the same schedule only a year earlier.

This means that Marvel better get on their horse and announce a Director yesterday. If this info is not accurate then we wont get an official announcement here real soon, Marvel will drag their feet.

Either way it seems to be set in stone that 'The Avengers' will assemble, and assemble soon!!!

It is 2010..2 years away not impossible..and yeah marvel need's to pick it up a bit on anouncement's..

that sounds about right. i don't think he dropped much of a bombshell. filming for movies usually starts around a year or so before the movie comes out. so this shouldn't be too surprising.

It may be true but I expect to see some progress with Captain America first, box office results of Thor and CA before Avengers goes into full gear.

Also, the look of the film and the characters will pretty much already be established by the time they start pre-production. A year and a half is more than enough time to get this EPIC PIECE OF AWESOMENESS together.

It's really happening !!!

I can't believe i'm going to be able to watch these guys in a LIVE ACTION FILM.

Cool thing is my eldest will be old enough to see it (providing the rating allows me to bring him).

Hate to do this, but I have to.

I grew up a DC kid and something like this is at least a decade way, maybe more since it looks like there won't be a shared universe in GL, SUPES or BATS.

Sorry, but that pic of the Avengers is just awful. They all look like a bunch of tools! Cap looks like he's cupping Scarlet Witch's ass and Iron Man just looks straight up shady...

Yeah but him up against the ironman suit and the hilk he is going to look tiny. however he is tall so maybe the gear will help

They only need about 12 to 14 months to go from pre-production to in the theater, so when ever the Thor movie was anounced last year is the same approximate date we can expect to hear something on The Avengers.

Well obviously it'll start shooting next year, if the film comes out 2012 they're going to HAVE to shoot it early next year.

I THINk that marvel is waiting to see how ironman 2 does in the theaters, and then they will make jon favearu or however u spell his name the director. because if u look at it he was the one that made marvel movies seem as if they can exist outside of the comics, and he is a fan favorite and a comic fan that knows the key to making a comicbook movie"stick to the source" don't change to much of the original comic, and u got a winner. If u listen to one of the post with edward norton on it he says himself that the top guys at marvel sits in front of their pcs "white knuckled" reading what ppl like us have to say about their movies cause we are the ones buying the tickets. so why mess up a good formula, if ironman does good then my money is on jon favreau. he understands what makes comicbook movies work. thanks for reading my post this is just something to think about......

I'm looking forward to this but I want them to take it slow and not rush into it. Granted, I do want to see the film within the next couple years. Also, I read recently that Iron Man 3 would be filming in the not to distant future. Idk if that is true but wouldn't it affect this. I think if IM2,Thor and Captain America do really well they will go directly into The Avengers.

Chris may look smallish at first, but remember he is 6'3", and has a bit of a large noggin, so that makes him look smaller than he is in person. The pics from Red Dawn shocked me. The dude definitely has the size to dwarf average sized people.
