Disney, what don't they own these days. Today they made that statement a little more lifelike. While they already have The Avengers, today Walt Disney Studios announced that it now holds the rights to distribute Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and my personal favorite Captain America The First Avenger.
Paramount Home Media Distribution who has distributed these films since they hit blank media will keep doing so until the last day of August of this year. No one has shared just how high of a price tag was on this exchange but my guess is we will find out soon. Marvel movies have sold very well in every format from Blu-ray to digital download, and i don't see Paramount letting go without a nice payday.
Disney as of today has taken over promotion for the titles, so expect to see some new media for the named phase one flicks, especially with Iron Man 3 hitting the usual home release formats on September 24th, which will also be distributed by Disney. Could we see new extras with the Disney releases of these movies?
No word on The Incredible Hulk while it still sits with Universal. Will Disney make an offer and complete the set? Will we see another Phase One box set in the near future? What do you guys think?
