Does This Action Figure Reveal Hulkbuster Suit For The Avengers?

Check out this new "Avengers Assemble" branded Iron Man action figure that gives us a look at a new, more realistic, design of the classic Hulkbuster armour. Is there a chance it's based off designs for the epic 2012 movie?

Ok, let me make it clear that this is 100% pure speculation on my part. I came across this picture of one of the new Iron Man action figures (along with the new subheading and "Avengers Assemble" branding I reported a few weeks ago) that features a slightly different design of the Hulkbuster armour. As you can see below, rather than the huge version from the comic books and previous action figures, it's a more realistic design that seems to enhance the suit we saw in Iron Man 2.

It's this design that makes me wonder if it might be based on concept art being used for The Avengers. There's nothing solid here to indicate that of course (accept for it's obvious association to that movie with the logo) but I still figured it was worth bringing to your attention.

Why? Well, Hulkbuster rumours have already surfaced in the past, along with confirmation that Iron Man will have a new suit in the 2012 epic. Add in the fact that the Hulk seems like the most obvious choice for the team to face off against, and this might just be our first look at one of the early designs of the armour we'll see! Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012!

Dude, action figures never mean we'll get them in the movies... 8 out of 9 times we don't get 'em! : (

Look at Deathstroke The Terminator for The Dark Knight movies figures etc!

Still, some hope is better than no hope buddy, it really is a must we get HULKBUSTER ARMOR in AVENGERS!

Gr8 find man!!!

HULKBUSTER ARMOR is a must as well as HULK & LOKI! ; )

This is probably just the new Iron Man series hulkbuster update. All the other lines did have one so...

Believe me guys, I know how they release action figures that end up having nothing to do with the movie itself (that Captain Britain one which will be released in the Captain America: The First Avenger line for example) but look at the Hulkbuster design they released for Iron Man 2...

Why the complete, and far more realistic design, for this set of "Avengers" related action figures? I really think there could be something to this, especially as the Hulkbuster armour has been hinted at several times in the past! :D Anyway, it's up to you lot to confirm or debunk this...I for one am hoping I'm right because just imagine how epic a sight it would be to see Tony in this suit taking on the Hulk!

I don't think this means that we will actually see Hulkbuster armor in "The Avengers" but I at least think this means that The Hulk will be one of the main villains. Why is it that in all of the Avengers Assemble marketing, The Hulk isn't included. Look at the top of the box, it shows only Cap, Thor, and Ironman. Wheres The Hulk? It could possibly mean he will be a villain or I'm just reading into this too much.

So Iron Man The Armored Avenger, you think that will be the name of the third movie?

JOSH @ wouldn't it be cool tho if we got a cameo of CAPTAIN BRITAIN in the CAPTAIN AMERICA movie!!??

Yeah I know it wont happen but it would be [frick]ing cool, even a 5 second cameo!

(Modern days of course)

If Marvels got brains we'll get BRIT in a sequel, best way to pimp that character out to the masses!

I say get BBC (with Marvel) to spin him in a series if they don't make a movie with Marvel studios! :)

That Hulkbuster armor sucks. I prefer it like the picture JoshW posted.

LEE: That would be beyond epic dude! Marvel however don't really seem to give a crap about the character (cant really blame them when his titles dont sell well, but that is their fault for not including him in an Avengers team or whatever as they teased at the start of the "Heroic Age") so I find it hard to imagine that it'll ever happen! A gritty, fantasty movie with an all British cast and produced by both Marvel Studios and the BBC would be amazing though. Fingers crossed mate. :)

Armageddon26: I'm not sure what the "Legends Series" tag refers to, as even the movie figures of Iron Man and War Machine say that on the packaging in this line!

JOSH @ Hellz yeah and bud, even lesser characters Marvels got could be gold mines, they gotta explore everything... hell even make horror movies etc too, not just do Superhero, cater for everyones tastes out there!

More money they make is gr8 for all of us!

Them and Disney could pretty much take over Hollywood with time!

Well heres hoping, and hoping we get everyone back at Marvel too! : p

Sorry to play "shit on a Brit" for a second, but the odds of Captain Britain appearing in a live action anything are very, very slim. Sorry guys.

@Josh: I see one thing, that inclines me to believe that this COULD be a movie concept. Notice how the old Hulkbuster toy is merely an "Iron Man 2" toy but the newer one has "Marvel Studios" printed visibly above the "Iron Man The Armored Avenger" tag?

Or perhaps I'm grasping at straws?

"2012 epic"???

it's a guaranteed disappointment if hype fest IM2 and the crappy trailer for Thor are any indications.
At this point Cap America or First Class sounds more promising.

I still think it's funny that Marvel is putting so much promotion into the Avengers when Thor and Captain America haven't even hit theaters yet. Then again, I guess that's the point.

No it does not. That body has been used many times before and is just a reuse to spark people's interest.

As for the people confused about the "Legends" subline, that is NOT Marvel Legends. This is a spinoff series called "Iron Man: Legends" set to release only Iron Man related 6" figures.

Marvel Legends is making its comeback in 2012

@IronJason

are you joking? RDJ did not quit, Jon Favreau stepped down from filming Iron Man 3
