EXCLUSIVE: Hey, Marvel/DC: MR. ROBOT Star Christian Slater Is Ready For A Comic Book Movie Role

Christian Slater has made a sensational comeback with Mr. Robot and the actor has revealed that he's ready to take on a role in a live-action superhero movie if Marvel Studios/DC is willing to have him...

Christian Slater is no stranger to the world of superheroes after playing a comic book store employee in True Romance and voicing Deadshot in Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay but when are we going to see the Golden Globe winning actor in a live-action superhero movie? It's easy to imagine him fitting into both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Films Universe...it just depends on who nabs him first!

After all, the actor has really turned his career around with his superb and award-winning performance in Mr. Robot and it's honestly surprising that Marvel Studios, in particular, hasn't approached him to play a villain (his layered and compelling work in the USA Network drama proves he'd be perfect for any number of characters). Recently, I was given the opportunity to talk to Slater and had to ask him if a live-action role in a superhero movie is something he would be interested in tackling one day.

"Look, if they keep making them, absolutely!" he enthusiastically replied. "At some point, that would be great. You know, I'm taking care of myself and I am certainly ready to be involved in something like that. Whether it's an animated feature or something live-action, I would be more than happy to participate in something like that." I guess, for now, we'll just have to wait and see what comes next for him but here's hoping someone takes notes of these comments and thinks about signing him up.

Do you have any ideas about who Slater could play on the big screen? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on that and the actor's remarks here in the usual place and stay tuned for updates.

Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay arrives on Blu-ray and DVD April 16th. Have you guys checked it out yet?

@incredibleTalk - I could see it. Although I'm a sucker and holding out hope that the other Marvel role Laurence Fishburne was teasing a few months back is that he is returning to voice the Surfer.

But I doubt it.

@L0RDbuckethead - ...I wouldn't mind Surfer with a little humor like the Vision had!

@incredibleTalk - Same. I really like how they've written Jarvis/Vision and how Bettany has portrayed the character. One of the most spot on castings by Marvel so far.

@L0RDbuckethead - ...Vision has actually been an Avenger longer than everyone else except Stark!!!

@L0RDbuckethead - I'd like him for Quentin Beck or Snart in a DC film.

@Lostcause - I haven't had time to check out Mr. Robot yet but I've heard his character is awesome in it.

True Romance is one of my all-time favorite RomComs. I mean look at this cast list:

Christian Slater
Patricia Arquette
Dennis Hopper
Val Kilmer
Gary Oldman
Samuel L. Jackson
Christopher Walken
Brad Pitt
James Gandolfini
Tom Sizemore

Awesome film.

@L0RDbuckethead - I've been meaning to say this:

why aren't vision and tony BFFS?? this is JARVIS here. tony seems to look after him as much as he would any other teammate, and jarvis should act a little over-protective of tony, should they not?

granted, it has been a while since i have seen aou.

Looks like we’ve found our new Blade.

L0RDbuckethead - 4/5/2018, 1:18 PM
@Tonic24k - I know you're kidding, but I really hope Marvel chooses to do another take on Blade, whether it be a TV series (on Netflix?) or a film.

Many people have suggested Boyega as their pick for Blade, but I just don't see it. I would like for them to cast Lakeith Stanfield from Get Out and Atlanta. I think he would kill it.

@L0RDbuckethead - I didn’t see lakeith stanfield in that role at all until you brought it up! I have only seen him in Get Out, which didn’t shout blade when I saw it,but after a little googling he does seem like a good fit and clearly he can act. I can dig it

L0RDbuckethead - 4/5/2018, 2:39 PM
@CrashOverride - He'd be great for the role. You should def check him out in Atlanta on FX - Donald Glover's show. It's one of the best comedies on TV right now.

Tonic24k - 4/6/2018, 8:58 AM
@L0RDbuckethead - Bro, I have to think they've got a plan already. And yeah, I'm not a fan of Boyega being Blade either. He just doesn't have the stature Snipes did. And although I do think Snipes is too old now, I wouldn't be mad at Marvel for somehow pulling that off. But I know finding a new actor is what's most realistic.
L0RDbuckethead
L0RDbuckethead - 4/6/2018, 9:03 AM
@Tonic24k - Yeah, I agree, I'd be on board with Snipes to come back. But unfortunately, with his erratic behavior and his past with Marvel, I really don't see that being a feasible solution.

I don't know who it would be, but I could hear his voice saying some cliche comic book villain dialogue, like "This isn't the last you'll see of me, SPIDER-MAN!"

@Spock0Clock - I was mocking Slater. He was aces in my childhood (Gleaming the Cube) but he finally seems to be shredding the bad Nicholson impression he was doing for 20 solid years.
