Joss Whedon Talks MAN OF STEEL, X-MEN: DOFP, Aaron Taylor-Johnson As Quicksilver And More
The Avengers 2 director Joss Whedon shares his thoughts on seeing Zack Snyder's Man of Steel in order to get inspiration for his superhero team sequel. He is also quizzed on how he feels about X-Men: Days of Future Past and those Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver rumours.
In the above video interview with Total Film, Joss Whedon was asked whether or not he has had chance to catch Man of Steel yet; a movie which seems to have divided fans and critics alike. "I have not had a chance to catch Man of Steel yet, but I'm going to," he confessed. As for whether or not he thinks the reboot will influence what he does with The Avengers 2, he added: "When you're making a large scale superhero film and a large scale superhero film comes out, you have to go and see it to make sure you're not imitating it. That you don't have a giant plot point or set piece that is exactly the same as yours. And it does happen a lot and we say, 'Oh, we better zig instead of zag.' You have to watch it for that, but also, to get a big of inspiration. You either have a great time or you think, 'Well, I can top that', but I'm definitely going to have a great time."
Talk then turned to how Whedon feels about Bryan Singer beating him to the punch by casting his own Quicksilver in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Unsurprisingly, the man who directed a superhero movie which is better than all of Fox's combined a million times over, simply does not care. "I don't. I really, you know what, I'm doing my thing and I'm very excited about my thing." Unfortunately, when the site then asked about the recent reports that Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is favourite to play Quicksilver in The Avengers 2, Whedon wouldn't give anything away. You may want to have a close look at his body language in the video however to see if you can garner anything from it. "I'm VERY excited about my thing," was all he would say. Be sure to watch the video interview to hear Whedon's thoughts on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and his latest movie, Much Ado About Nothing.
