Latino Review's MARVEL Scoop - How Does THE HULK Fit Into Phases 2 AND 3?

Elmayimbe finally dropped his big Marvel Superbowl scoop in the form of a video blog. Want to know how the Green Goliath fits into Marvel's phase 2 plans - and beyond? Read on, but be warned, if this is accurate it is a MAJOR SPOILER for the end of Avengers 2..

Okay, the long and the short of it is: According to Elmayimbe, at the end of Avengers 2, The Hulk will be launched into space by the MCU incarnation of The Illuminati! He says this will actually lead to a Planet Hulk solo movie in Phase 3. Pretty incredible eh? But that's not all! Elmayimbe then says that Avengers 3 will see The big green fella return to Earth, and focus on the comic book storyline WORLD WAR HULK

We can't be certain that all or any of this is true of course, but Latino Review are right more often that they are wrong and there is no doubt Marvel consider them major annoyances with their constant scoopage, so that's good enough for us. What do you think of these future plans for The Hulk? Sound off in the usual place.

To be honest, it's not exactly what I wanted to see with the Hulk, in the near future. Yes, I'd still like to see him taking on the Leader, et cetera. (Well, I'm most familiar with the character during Lee/Kirby's run, so that's one factor.) Planet Hulk could be great, though, and I'm curious of how they'll set up the Illuminati in this universe without Reed and Xavier. Pym sounds like good enough an idea to be a replacement for the former, but what about Xavier? (Although without the mutants to be represented, he could be easily discarded.)

It is an utter made-up lie on Elimugambie's part.

There is not a shred of truth to this.

How do I know? I happen to be involved in one of the Marvel projects for Phase 3.

This guy just made shit up and pulled nothing, portraying it as something, from his ass.

In all fairness, though, setting the Hulk's adventure on Earth again does bring the risk of it getting rather repetitive to the table. But, I'd still like to see the Leader...OK, that's just me. If the Illuminati will indeed have a role in this (if this turns out to be true, that is), then I think they'll use it as a medium to introduce the likes of Black Panther, and the Inhumans. Their solo outings can wait after that.

if this is true, this is gonna be awesome it has so much potential.

planet hulk movie a cross between gladiator & john carter but this time round people will actually go & see a movie that is like john carter.

world war hulk is gonna be so great seeing the hulk take on so many heroes.

yeah gotta agree with @jolt17, this is not the direction i wanted to see them send the hulk. should have him be fighting The Leader and Abomination should break loose and go after him, introduce She-Hulk and Rick Jones. and im interested to see how they do the Illuminati without Reed, Xavier, and Black Bolt. unless this means we are going to be getting an Inhumans movie.

to @FennecPilot even if you are real and work in Marvel, Elmayimbe would say that people in Marvel would deny it. But this doesn't mean I fully trust everything he's saying. I think he's partly right in some aspects. I doubt WWH will happen for Avengers 3, but Planet Hulk seems Plausible

I would rather see him get throw to a planet by Thanos or something, and have nothing to do with his team betraying him.

Who are the Illuminati going to be? Black Bolt, Tony Stark, T'Challa and Henry Pym ? I loved the comic series. But are we going to see the Silver Surfer in it or Beta Ray Bill? If so then Marvel/Disney needs to either get the Surfer or introduce BRB before we shoot the Hulk into space. If it happens, great! I just don't see it happening with introducing other players first.

Hulk in gladiator gear would be awesome, but im concerned with The Illuminati aspect. Key members like Reed and even Blackbolt make it awesome. If this is true, Marvel really needs to start aquiring rights to other heros. And this totally goes against theories like Thanos. Hes to big of s villian to have in one phase.

Kinda disappointed. I really think that Civil War would be much better. It's A) Easier to set up, B) a more believable story, and C) would mean a much more personal story for all heroes involved. Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to see Planet Hulk and World War Hulk stories adapted to film, but I think Civil War is a more logical way to go. Maybe for Phase 4...

Marrvel/Disney needs to sit down with fox and sony and have a deal made, to share characters, or all these big theme story wont be done right and it wont do the movie justice. Marvel/needs to work something out.

If this happens to be true (time will tell), I think it's completely outrageous that some random dude had access to 4/5 years of upcoming movie plots when it should be kept in total secrecy. Marvel has to be careful with this things. Honestly, I was expecting something less revealing.

That being said, I don't mind if they follow that path with the Hulk.

I agree with everyone who doesn't want to see the hulk betrayed by his team. However, if they could get him into space a different way then a planet hulk movie would be cool. I don't like the idea of world war hulk for avengers 3 though, I prefer seeing hulk as a hero.
HongKongPooey
HongKongPooey - 2/4/2013, 5:47 AM
Yeah I agree with a lot of people wanting to keep Hulk as a hero, I mean seeing him on Planet Hulk would be cool so don't make the Illuminati send him into space, but make a villain send him up there. Like Thanos tossing into space etc. Heroes turning on heroes would be weird especially for a fan favourite character.

Bro, Whedon is not the only damn director capable to getting the hulk right.

Funny how 2 unsuited directors makes the character hard to adapt

The Illuminati stuff is stupid and most likely pure speculation... More likely "Avengers 2" would take place in space vs. Thanos or something and the Hulk would be lost or left behind, at most through a betrayal by that World Council. No need to bother setting up anything so elaborate as a cabal of heroes who launch Hulk into space.

As for Marvel wanting to do "Planet Hulk" as a film, I have no doubt that they have considered it and even looked at using any space adventures of the Avengers to set it up. But after the complete flop of "John Carter", is a Hulk-based version really the best way to go?
CrimsonReign
CrimsonReign - 2/4/2013, 6:05 AM
Well, WWH is just too powerful to put on film. The Hulk we have seen would have to exponentially expand both intelligence and strength.

I think ACE101 said it best! Do you see Anvengers on the cover??

I didn't think so! Marvel/Disney needs to get their characters back or strike a deal with fox and sony. Becaus straight up doing a have ass story just aint gonna cut it for me! look at ironman 3 super patriot thats just f#cking up a good character. James rodes can never be super patriot because the hole sence and reason why norman became super patriot aint there!!! MARVEL YOU EITHER DO YOUR OWN STORY'S JUSTICE OR DONT DO THEM AT ALL!!! STICK WITH THE 70'S AND 80'S AVENGERS STORY'S WHERE IN WITCH THERE WHERE NOT AS MANY CROSSOVERS AS NOW!!

I hope that this turns out to be more of a "Black Panther will definitely be the next Marvel Studios film" kind of scoop. Except I actually would have wanted to see a Black Panther movie.

Considering how much time they spent trying to redeem Hulk and bring him back into the family of heroes, I don't understand why they would go this route. Especially since we already have a Planet Hulk animated movie, it seems like it would be just rehashing old material, which you don't want for a big movie.

Personally, I'd rather they look more at what Peter David did with the character, or what Mark Waid is doing now on Indestructible. The Hulk is a facinating character, especially on Earth, contrasting against other humans. Sending him into space always felt like an unnecessary step.

Because Whedon is kind of busy planning the whole universe, the show, and getting ready for Avengers 2. He's a talented guy but that's insane for anyone.

I actually like the idea of this, hulk vs. Thor was one of the better parts in the first. To the people who think hulk should be a good guy, I mean he's a green monster, don't think that's gonna be easy to permanently cement.

He has collateral Damage always

im callin bullshit on this one. With the way Banner has been portrayed in TIH and Avengers, theres no reason to send him into space for being an uncontrollable menace because he can control it (unless taken off guard and by surprise). Feige already stated Planet hulk was something they were looking into, but I just dont believe marvel is going to use Avengers 3 as a WWH vehicle, I just dont.
