Mark Ruffalo Confirms That The Avengers Is NOT Being Filmed In 3D!

Addressing fans via Twitter, Mark Ruffalo has commented briefly on bringing the Incredible Hulk to life via motion capture as well as finally putting the rumors to rest that the movie is being shot in 3D...

While I'm pretty sure the rumors that director Joss Whedon would be shooting The Avengers in 3D were debunked some time ago (although I may be wrong about that) one of the stars of the movie has now taken to his Twitter account to put an end to them once and for all. Mark Ruffalo, who as I'm sure you already know plays Bruce Banner in the highly anticipated superhero team-up, told one eager fan that it's not being filmed in 3D as you can see from the screengrab below. Many thanks to the people who asked the questions.

While this may initially seem disappointing (after all, the 3D conversion for THOR wasn't exactly perfect) I'm glad that they're spending money on other things...you know, like making the most epic comic book movie ever! Regardless, are you disappointed by this news? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

With an all star cast which includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Rufallo as Bruce Banner, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012!

Not being filmed in Native 3-D or the film is not in 3-D?

Something about that thumbnail of Hulk's head makes him look like he's super-constipated and sitting on an oversized toilet.

Yeah, they aren't filming in 3D, but it's guaranteed that they'll release it in 3d via post-conversion. The same thing happened with Thor and is happening with Cap.

Have never seen anything in 3D and probably never will. Wish Hollywood would just do away with it already.

Avengers filmed in "camerons" 3D would be nice, but everything in this world doesn't need to be 3D all the time.

Not disappointed in the least. Hope they don't convert it either so I won't have to worry about scheduling around the 3D showings since they ALWAYS have more 3D than 2D showings. This dated trend needs to die already, seriously.

Good. As long as they don't convert it from there. The 3D in Thor was a fail.

Some things are okay in 3D,but I don't need to see every single movie with it either.I like to just sit & enjoy a movie without something on my face the whole time. It's just like a Blu-Ray movie,I want to see action & superhero movies in Blu-Ray,but I don't need to see Ferris Bueller's Day Off in Blu-Ray.It's not neccessary.

that sucks the converted 3d is what is turning off alot of people , filmed in 3d is the only way to go . I just watched sanctum 3d and I don't like the movie but the 3d was fantastic the best I have seen from a real movie and not animation .

@itbegins2005

It will still be in 3D, just post converted. It just means the cinematography wont be focused on getting better depth than great images.

Good, it means the cinematography wont be compromised by filming in 3D, hopefully Seamus McGarvey work wont be effected by Whedons lack of real experience in film directing. (Anyone who has seen Atonement can see that McGarvey he can shoot a great looking film)

Marvel have a weird relationship with cinematographers. One film they pick someone great the next its someone not so great.

Don Burgess and Bill Pope who worked on the Spiderman movies have a good resume but none of those films looked anything special.

Newton Thomas Sigel works mainly with Singer.

Fred Elmes who did The Hulk has done some incredible work though I guess that comes from having a "proper" director like Ang Lee.

Randomly Ghost Rider was shot by the award winning Russell Boyd lol.

John Mathieson who shot First Class is pretty special and that showed to and extent in that film.

John Schwartzman has just done the Amazing spiderman and has some big action movies under his belt so seeing that in 3d might be interesting.

Matthew Libatique who did both the iron man films mainly works with Aronofsky and his stuff is pretty pretty lol.

In terms of DCs work, we could all see how great Wally Pfisters work has been and im hoping he gets another nomination for TDKR.

and annoyingly green lantern was shot by Dion Beebe who has worked on some stunning stuff like Memoirs of a Geisha and Miami Vice but i dont know if he will be able to shine considering all the gci and green screen. as as nice as the cgi was in avatar it wasnt really a cinematography movie.

anyways im sure no one will read this to the end but if anyone does or has any comments let me kno what you think.

be that good or bad =]
