Promoting his Sympathy for Delicious flick, actor Mark Ruffalo, whose portraying Bruce Banner alias the Hulk in Joss Whedon's The Avengers movie, used HollyScoop & Collider to share how hes preparing for the role, and what we can expect in the crossover extravaganza. Pinpointed to the "2:45" mark, where Ruffalo picks up on the topic, check out the video below.

"I think [it's gonna be] a lot of fun...we haven't seen all these guys together on the screen, I think it's gonna be pretty gutsy. And theres actually a lot of humor in it as well. And theres a lot of really good actors who are doing it. So hopefully it has a little bit of the spirit of what [Marvel] has been doing with Iron Man. And I have feeling people are really gonna have a good time," the actor continues,"it's the mother of all comic book movies. I've lost 15 pounds. I've been working a lot on the psychology of [Bruce Banner]. And hopefully I'll bring something different than what we've already seen"

And in the separate interview with Collider, the actor speaks on further preparation, his start-date, and the feeling of being the third actor to portray the Jade Giant.

What do you have to do to get ready for The Avengers?
"We have to get the script. We’ve been working on the script, which has been fun. I’ve lost 15 pounds. They don’t want me all ripped up, but they want me to be lean and mean. It’s about trying to get the psychology of somebody who knows, at any moment, they could literally tear the roof off of wherever they are and trying to bring something real to that and totally fantastic. I’ve been working with Joss Whedon on the script, with the rest of the cast, and we start rehearsals soon. Hopefully, we’ll have the mother of all comic book movies for you soon

When will you start shooting?
"In the first week of May.

Does being the third actor in 10 years to play The Hulk give you any kind of pause?
Yeah, are you kidding me? I’ve got some big shoes to fill. I kind of look at it as my generation’s Hamlet. We’re all going to get a shot at it.

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston & Stellan Skarsgård, the film releases May 4, 2012!

Filming will start this month folks, though like Ruffalo, each cast member has their own start-date, until scenes eventually require them to be together.

It sounds like Ruffalo has the right idea when he talks about the "psychology" of the hulk. I'm really looking forward to his portrayal.

This guy bothers me. Recast. I liked Bana. Norton was good. Bixby is classic. This guy will be forgettalbe. In a side note... If Hemsworth and Evans pull a Maquire and lose the buffness for this movie I'll go bananas.

Give him a chance, guys. The Hulk is the Hamlet of our generation.

If you had to make a contemporary Hamlet, I think it'd end up being a lot like The Incredible Hulk.

Y'know, I feel like the Hulk is a role comparable to the lead in Shakespeare's Hamlet.

HULK = HAMLET, FOR FŪCK'S SAKE!

Maybe it was harsh, but it really anoyed me. But i think at least he could use a different metaphore its kinda lazy to sya the smae thing in every interview.

luckylu That's all I heard when I read that. A lot of humor? When I hear that, all I can think of is stuff like Tony Stark making a dumb ass face and saying "Taste like coconut and metal". I undertsand the need of comedy in these films, but pick your spots. Damn. And Ruffulo is already unpopular for this part, the last thing he needs to do is associate himself with the comedy relief of the film.

brazilianbatman Ironically, it's Stark that I think needs to stop being the comedian, but at the same time I'd like to see his reaction around all the freaks in Avengers. I think Stark is in desperate need of growing up by now. In IM2, it started to look unbelieveable that someone cool was actually wearing that badass suit. We've seen the jokey and irresponsible Stark. Bring on the more stern and serious kick-ass Stark. But yeah, I wouldn't mind a few one-liners in Avengers. He's surrounded by a flying Thunder God, a dude who just woke up from the 1930's and a guy that turns into a 10 foor monster. That HAS TO BE funny.

Oh, back to coconuts and metal. The guy just created a new element at the same time saved his own life. Now, without having time to test it, he is going to use it immediately to save others. How does he celebrate this noble occasion? By having a Daffy Duck moment.

Still not liking how Marvel and Paramount were dicks to Norton for no reason(Remember, TIH's Director even questioned this) and kicked him off and put this guy in his place. And I hate it EVEN MORE they're going to redesign hulk AGAIN!

i agree that SOME humor is needed but alot is a big no no! and ya im getting very tired of the iron man movies being comedies with a little bit of action. oh and pleeeeeaaaaase keep their masks on when they fight.

I read with Kevin Feige had to say and he proved hismelf to be an unprofessional douchebag who had the nerve to imply that Norton wasn't a good actor. I'm not buying the whole Ed Norton is difficult routine. He seemed geniunely interested in continuing the HULK.

"We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in 'The Avengers.' Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. 'The Avengers' demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert [Downey Jr], Chris [Hemsworth], Chris [Evans], Sam [Jackson], Scarlett [Johansson], and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks."

Norton's talent agent Brian Swardstrom just responded to the harsh words by stating:

"This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light. Here are the facts: two months ago, Kevin called me and said he wanted Edward to reprise the role of Bruce Banner in 'The Avengers.' He told me it would be his fantasy to bring Edward on stage with the rest of the cast at Comic-Con and make it the event of the convention. When I said that Edward was definitely open to this idea, Kevin was very excited and we agreed that Edward should meet with ['The Avengers' director] Joss Whedon to discuss the project. Edward and Joss had a very good meeting at which Edward said he was enthusiastic at the prospect of being a part of the ensemble cast. Marvel subsequently made him a financial offer to be in the film and both sides started negotiating in good faith. This past Wednesday, after several weeks of civil, uncontentious discussions, but before we had come to terms on a deal, a representative from Marvel called to say they had decided to go in another direction with the part. This seemed to us to be a financial decision but, whatever the case, it is completely their prerogative, and we accepted their decision with no hard feelings.

We know a lot of fans have voiced their public disappointment with this result, but this is no excuse for Feige's mean spirited, accusatory comments. Counter to what Kevin implies here, Edward was looking forward to the opportunity to work with Joss and the other actors in 'The Avengers' cast, many of whom are personal friends of his. Feige's statement is unprofessional, disingenuous and clearly defamatory. Mr. Norton's talent, tireless work ethic and professional integrity deserve more respect, and so do Marvel's fans."

Norton is not a team player. He is too much of a diva and maybe he asked for tons of money...
And he really was not that good in Hulk. Don't get me wrong, he is an amazing actor and I've seen how good he is in many other movies... But in Hulk he didn't really try to be his best. You could see that he didn't LOVE his character, not the way RBJ loves Tonny.

What the hell do you expect him to do? The guy gets asked the same damn questions over and over by lazy interviewers. If they did their research before asking the questions, they wouldn't need to ask mundane, repetitive ones. These people's jobs are to report on some of the least important information in the world. You would think they could at least put effort into thinking ahead. Don't keep asking "how does it feel to be the third guy doing this" every time if you want him to say something different. He's answered it for months.
