News in Film is confirming that actor Mark Ruffalo WILL be Dr. Bruce Banner, a.k.a. The Incredible Hulk, for Marvel's summer 2012 blockbuster "The Avengers" and beyond. Here's an excerpt:

"The Wrap reports Ruffalo's deal consists of more than just Avengers. He potentially signed for four to six movies for Marvel. Given the studio's history of low ball salaries for its talent, Ruffalo probably didn't score much in the process either."

There's more in the link. What do you guys think of the confirmation? I really wish that Edward Norton was going to reprise the role. Then again, we all thought an Australian nobody like Hugh Jackman could play the fan-favorite Canadian X-Man Wolverine or that Tobey Maguire could do a good job as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Maybe Ruffalo will do a good job.

Thoughts?

What I don't get is that Marvel has been notorious for signing people to a large number of movies. For example, both RDJ and SLJ have both signed for nine each. Chris Evans signed on for six. Doesn't it stand to reason that Ed Norton had to do the same? I think this Ruffalo thing is to spur interest in a Hulk sequel. My guess is he's gonna play either a villan or possibly even the Red Hulk. I just don't see anyone else playing Bruce Banner besides Ed Norton. What do you guys thinks. What are some other villans in the Hulk series.......
