RUMOR: Dave Bautista To Have A "Significant" Role In AVENGERS 3; Still Hopes To Return To WWE

According to a new report, Dave Bautista - the breakout star of Guardians of the Galaxy - is about to get a far more profitable contract following the success of the movie, while he's also being lined up to star in The Avengers 3. How will all this affect his wrestling career?

Wrestling dirt sheets tend to be very hit and miss, but you'd be surprised at how often they're correct! PWMania have a piece up looking at Dave Bautista's WWE future and how the success of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy will have an effect on the return many thought would take place last month during SummerSlam following the movie's opening. According to the site, "Marvel Studios are currently restructuring his contract that will likely see him get more money due to the success of Guardians of the Galaxy." They then add that Marvel will be lock him in for a number of other movies , but we already know that the studio signs up their actors with multi-picture deals from day one. Regardless, they go on to claim that, "Batista is slated for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 as well as the 3rd Avengers movie, where he will have a significant role."

As for how his newfound Hollywood success impacts his WWE career, "people in Hollywood" apparently don't want him involved in wrestling from now on, possibly because an injury caused while competing could throw any future movies he's set to star in into chaos (exactly that happened following last year's WrestleMania when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was forced to delay starting work on Hercules). The site reveals that, "They feel that he didn’t get what he was promised and feel that WWE dropped the ball by not letting him use some of his own ideas to get himself over. Batista has expressed some of these same frustrations but it’s said that he does want to return. The two sides are in talks but WWE will be coming second to his movie career." It's true that Batista wasn't used at all well during his WWE run, but it would be a shame not to see him have another run, even it was his last. What do you guys think about this rumour?

Bloody hell.

I really should have started downing shots. Pasties has changed his username so many times by now, I'd probably be waiting for an organ donor if I knocked one back every time he came up with another.

People are obsessed with doubting El Mayimbe's credibility despite proof that says otherwise, they get hard-ons for hating Devin Faraci and Badass Digest...all I have to say is that every one of those users better be saying the same things about a pro wrestling website giving out Marvel scoops.

One of the weaker parts of GOTG imo

Wonder what that A3 role could be. If it's not as Drax, they'll have to go a long way to make him look like someone else.

im choosing not to believe this because i dont want avengers 3 to be infinity gauntlet.

This is a wait and see. If he is in Avengers 3 have to assume all the guardians will be. That will rock.

GOTG was ridiculously good. But DRAX should have been more of a beast. I feel like Gunn will touch on that in GOTG 2 and going forward into Avengers 3. He needs to TEAR things up.

This is from a wrestling news website, which usually means it's NOT true.

However, I believe it.

Makes sense. There are a lot of things pointing to a GOTG and Avengers cross-over in Avengers 3...

Avengers 3 is gonna need the Avengers and Guardians (and presumably the Inhumans should Marvel move forward with their own film), as the Infinity Gauntlet storyline which likely will be featured needs to be accurately portrayed. A lot of heroes were already depowered (An MCU example being Thor), and I'd rather not have Thanos at all than see him depowered.

Also, I have a feeling this source is just making an assumption that he'll be in Avengers 3 considering the Infinity Gauntlet storyline is heavily rumored for that movie, but the rest I believe is spot-on.

Dude is a terrible actor. Guardians worked because it played up the absurdity and humor of the character.

Any moment he spoke of his daughter and wife, I didn't feel an ounce of emotion. He was Ronan's bitch.

This Drax is not believable at all as an opponent against Thanos.

FerFogs - He's mine too! Possibly least fav in the comics, though I'm not as versed in the "new" guardians as much as I want to be yet!

Bautista had so many hilarious lines, and his speech of sacrificing his life to help Quill, then joining his wife and daughter was very touching.

Yeah, I agree. Seems weird. Did a good job in GotG but I'm not sure if that warrants him playing 2 different characters in the MCU.

I'm not just saying this because I write reviews for them, but dirt sheets like this one are more reliable than you might think. Admittedly some of this could be speculation mixed in with actual inside info, but I think there's something here (the cast of The Avengers all got pay increases after the first movie too remember...). If the third movie isn't a crossover with Thanos as the big bad, I'll be very surprised!

Where the hell do you guys get he'd be playing two characters? It's obvious he'll be returning as Drax with the Guardians to fight Thanos with the Avengers.

Don't be haters. He did exactly as asked during GOTG. He did a great job doing what was required for that character. That doesn't mean he can't act. Only that he wasn't asked to act in a certain manner during this movie.

I thought he was great. Enjoyed watching him on the screen. Enjoyed the whole cast, really.

"Dude is a terrible actor. Guardians worked because it played up the absurdity and humor of the character."

More than half of that absurdity and humor of his character came from his impeccable comedic timing...which is a MASSIVE part of acting in that kind of role. If he delivered a line of dialogue, a facial expression, or any kind of action at all a beat too early, or a beat too late, then it would've come across as rushed, or forced, or just completely flat.

Don't undersell the accomplishments of a pro wrestler making his acting debut, and the tremendous work that he did in spite of that. His character really resonated with people...not sure that'd be the case if this was as bad of a performance as Jamie Foxx or Dane DeHaan in TASM 2, for example.

Unless Avengers 3 is the Infinity Gauntlet story and has the GOTG come to Earth to help the Avengers stop Thanos.

That said, we still have to take this with a grain of salt. But I'm inclined to believe it.
