BAT-RANT PT II: NIGHTWING Might Be One Of The GOATS And Here's Why

In the second part of my official Bat-Rant, I discuss Dick Grayson aka the first ever superhero sidekick aka the first ever Robin aka Nightwing.

So... Nightwing is an awesome character. There's a lot to be said about this guy that isn't said or noticed by even the most hardcore Batman fans (of which I'm not). I'm IndieKid, and here is why Nightwing is such an amazing character...

Dick Grayson is the very first superhero sidekick, and the very first Robin. Though he famously became Nightwing later on in the comics, I think it's important to look at why the idea of Robin works so well. But specifically Dick Grayson as Robin.

Everything we know about Batman can be summed up with gadgets, fighting skills, crimefighting, wealth, and a dark and traumatic past. You take this great character, and then give him someone to take under his wing (or his Knight-Wing *sorry I couldn't resist), and you instantly have a great idea for a character. This is where Dick Grayson comes in.

Dick Grayson is everything I just described Batman as, but subtracted. His parents were killed like Batman's, he lives in Gotham like Batman, but he doesn't have the wealth or the brooding attitude. So you get a younger Bruce Wayne who isn't rich and has an upbeat attitude, and give him a father-son relationship with Bruce Wayne. Out of that, you get to see them bounce off of each other, bond, and sometimes disagree, as Dick Grayson does (due to Batman's bullshit and deceit).

...But what if I told you this kid became his own superhero?

Then, you get this already interesting character, and put him in a new world, without Batman's supervision, and his own set of problems. We get to see how this slightly altered version of Batman works by himself, and handles his own responsibilities. This makes Nightwing an amazing character.

@lndieKid - I think they should do two Robins at once in the DCEU so both Dick and Jason at the same time. I think this as it would cut down on setup and backstory for the audience. As I remember when I found out there was more then one Robin it was confusing and this is coming from a person who likes this sort of stuff. So imagine someone who doesn't. So make the Robin persona like a team/army for Batman.

Now even though its rumour I do 100% think Affleck is toying with the idea of leaving or at least giving up the cowl (still Bruce just not Batman) so really they couldn't do the Red Hood storyline the way it is in the comics. The father and son story. But what if they made it about brothers, the good one vs the bad one, battle for the cowl, blue vs red, the best in Batman vs the worst in Batman.

This also plays into Dick leaving, imagine it like the scene from Doctor Strange (Dick) calling out The Ancient One (Bruce) for lying in front of Mordo (Jason). So have something like that with Dick asking Jason to come with as Bruce is lying about something, he doesn't believe Dick and stays, then you get Nightwing and Jason dies from the Joker, then when Jason comes back he blames Dick for leaving him with The Monster (Batman). Play with the mind set of Batman past , from BVS and after his redemption (JL and The Batman).

I can just imagine a epic brother fight and the marketing of the blue and red. So taking the Robin and Red hood storyline and making it different enough for the big screen.
