BATGIRL Set Video Reveals Flashback With J.K. Simmons As Young Jim Gordon And Michael Keaton's Batman

A new video from the set of Batgirl in Glasgow, Scotland, reveals J.K. Simmons as a younger Jim Gordon seemingly meeting with Michael Keaton's Batman after he saves a young Barbara Gordon. Check it out...

Glasgow, Scotland, has been transformed into Gotham City for Batgirl, and work continues there on Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah's DC Extended Universe debut. Over the weekend, we caught a first look at Michael Keaton - or, more likely, a stand-in - suited up as Batman, but those scenes don't appear to be set in the present day.

In the video below, we see more of J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, but the actor has clearly been made to look younger for a flashback sequence. He's shown embracing a young girl who definitely appears to be his daughter, Barbara, and while Batman only briefly appears, it seems the Caped Crusader may have rescued her (no doubt setting the stage for Babs to become a vigilante).

We still don't know whether Batman is going to show up to mentor Batgirl, but that was said to be the plan in early reports about the movie.

In this new DC Extended Universe, Keaton's Bruce Wayne has clearly been serving as Gotham City's Dark Knight for decades. It's apparent now that The Flash will rewrite this shard world's history, removing Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader from continuity and making use of the original big screen Batman in Batgirl and likely multiple other franchises moving forward.

After his brief cameo in Justice League, seeing more of Simmons as Gordon promises to be an absolute joy. He now joins Pat Hingle as one of the only actors to play the GCPD Commissioner alongside more than one version of Batman.

Batgirl is expected to be released on HBO Max later this year, but that has yet to be confirmed.

So do we all agree:

DCEU: Ben Affleck Batman, JK Simmons Gordon, Barry's mom dead. Affleck dies (big emotional scene he talked about), Flash goes back in time:

Flashpoint/Burtonverse: Michael Keaton Batman (probably a loner), Pat Hingle Gordon, Barry's mom alive, Supergirl instead of Superman, Zod still alive, world has to be changed again due to that or Amazon/Atlantean War:

New 52 DCEU Equivalent: Michael Keaton Batman with a full Bat-Family, JK Simmons Gordon, Supergirl but maybe Coates/Abrams' black Superman too.

@DalekCraigWasson - I mean... maybe?

Time-travel and multiverses don't require a whole lot of justification for weirdness, but I'm struggling to see how you get from A to B in as few steps as possible. There's some real underwear gnome logic happening here with Flash's movie doing a lot of the ?????? work.

@DalekCraigWasson - Generally speaking, when it comes to WB and their big-screen plans...well, it's hard to say really. Especially since this they're probably loosely adapting Flashpoint. All of that could happen, or not, or some.

@DalekCraigWasson - Affleck doesnt die, I dont know what you got that from...Barry goes back in time to save his mom after having some emotional coversation with him.

@DalekCraigWasson - With Ben's batman never existing by the end and being replaced by keaton's as "he was always there" I'm wondering if in the new continuity they will have Supergirl be the daughter to Christopher Reeves' Superman. Then they can say keatons batman and chris reeves supes were friends for years?

As comic book fans we are use to this kind of nonsense story telling. I wonder if the general audience will buy into it though

Okay. Starting the see Warner Bros strategy when it comes to DC.

Starting with Suicide Squad.

The Suicide Squad - HBO Max Release of Peacemaker.

The Batman - HBO Max Release of that Gotham Central Series.

The Flash - HBO Max Release of Batgirl

Aquaman 2 - TBC (Probably too expensive)

Shazam 2 - TBC

Black Adam - TBC

Each movie would have a follow up on HBO Max in a attempt to permeate pop culture in the same way that Marvel is doing with their films and now also TV.

They seem to always be playing catch-up.

Then Warner wondered why people got upset about Bruce [frick]ing Barbara.
Not only could she be his daughter, not only he knows here since she was a child, is the daughter of one of his closest friends.
