While introduced in the first season, many have suspected that Cameron Monaghan is playing a younger version of The Joker. While the showrunners have never outright confirmed as such, there have been a multitude of teases that seem to indicate that this is true.

The new trailer titles 'Villains Rising' certainly spells out the fact that Monaghan is playing The Joker. Check out the trailer to see for yourself.

Monaghan himself has teased on social media that he's possibly playing the clown prince of crime. So this is definitely not an outright confirmation but at this point it's looking like this is surely the case.

Gotham Season 2 premieres September 21st.

Kid Joker wasn't bad in his one episode last season, but I can't help but feel like he'll get old really fast.

For what he is given to work with, Monaghan seems to be giving surpricingly good (proto-)Joker.

At this rate, Bruce will be Batman by the time he's 13.

From these trailers I can see why I have never watched a single episode.

To put any kind of focus on Kid Joker is seriously just about the worst move they could have made when it comes to my personal appreciation of the show. :(

Only thing worse would be a storyline about him teaming up with Lil' Ivy and a still-alive-after-all Fish Mooney...

I have a feeling that maybe at one season in the future or the series finale, they'll kill off Jerome. They'll have us believing he's Joker until the very end until they reveal that Jerome was just a crazy kid.

The best thing they can do to for the show is to focus less on the Batman villains and more on organized crime or other cases for Gordon. Another thing they can do is a time jump and do what Smallville did where 5 seasons were basically Superman year one, in which we don't see Bruce don the costume until the last five minutes.

I am just surprised how many people don't think Gotham deserves a chance to get things right, when AoS got it so wrong at first and was given a second chance and made changes and is now praised by many.

@Nubase

You're right it does attract a wide range of audiences be them comic book fans or not.I really don't see the point of it without Batman,of course Batman has some interesting villains but this is basically Smallville but a bit more adult.When Batman actually shows up that's if he does in the future,I'll start watching.

It would be cool to see Jerome wearing a red hood mask (not just the piece of cloth they used in season 1).
And I like seeing a young Joker. The kid is a good actor.

Wow, slow news day for sure...I left 15 hrs ago for the Columbus Zoo and just got back and there have only been 3 new articles posted in that 15 hrs.

I like Ian Gallagher as Jerome as young Joker.
